HELP! Did i just ruin my laptop!

well i had a nice power switch wired up so i could remove the laptop with ease but when i pulled it out today the actual chip for the power button came off. Here is a pic to show you, is there a way to fix this!

Im pretty sure that isnt a chip. It is just a SMD push button. So just push it back on and solder it.

You should be able to buy a new button board off of ebay before you replace the whole laptop if you cannot get it back on there.

I would check which pads are which with the buttons by measuring the resistivity between all the metal points, and when you get an open line, those are your contact points.

Put solder on those points. Put the button ontop of the solder. Then flash solder the button on from underneath both sides.

okay well i bought a new button pad off ebay for 11 bucks so i will just hook that up. Sucks because i had it soldered up great. Guess i will have to just keep pushing it on when i get in
