you can buy DC-DC auto/air adapters. they look similar to the bricks that come with laptops, that may be what you were thinking of.

i think that is what I am thinking of......

Fusion, both my USB hubs use 1 amp each, or at least thats what is says on the power brick for the hubs.... can the 5V rail on my OPUS 320 handle both of them?

the OPUS 320 can provide 15 amps (20 amps peak) on the +5V rail. older processors like Intel P3 (or earlier), AMD Athlon-XP (or earlier) get their main power from the +5v rail, but modern processors get the main power from the +12v rail. since the processor is usually the most power-hungry component it's probably safe to say that you have an extra 2 amps to spare on your OPUS 320's +5v rail (although I don't know the power draw of your system so I can guarantee that ) if you're worried about it then use the dual relay option I mentioned earlier (in post #24).

a couple other questions for you HiJack...
1. -when you say, "caused melting", what actually melted? the hub, the PSU, the wires, etc?
2. -what could you possibly need 14 USB ports for? a single 4-port hub is usually necessary, but two 7-port hubs??? sheesh, I don't think I could use that many if I tried!

*The USB Hubs themselves. I could see a chip get really red. It then started smoking and burst into flames.
* My system has ever possible gadget to trick out my system 100%.... If you go to my work log you can see the list of everything. I have managed to lower the USB count to about 16 USB ports being used, so I have 6 USB ports open for future use.

Wow, you are using a lot of stuff, looks like somebody has to much money though. Is this even putting a dent in your pocket?
