sup.. a noob question..

I am planning on getting an used Q1 by Samsung.. i know some or many of you use q1 or some sort of umpc installed for carpc use.. My question is how do you all hook it up so you get nice sound from car speakers.. I saw a post last night(can't find it now..) with a nice diagram explaning two senarios.. one using aux on HU and second using amp. Is that pretty much how you all set up ur system? I heard about this static noise and genenator noise, engine noise, etc when you power up ur umpc from cigarette lighter... I plan to use it as well and I need a solution to avoid all those troubles.. Please share some knowledge or direct to me to some source where i can read and learn and get educated...

Does an amp needs power as well? (sorry never used one, have no idea how it works)

oh, also, do you happen to know that post with a diagram where i can find it.. I should have bookmarked it... searched for two hours.. can't find it now...

those q1 users, how does the built in sound card perform?

Thanks guys..

The noise you refer to is most likely the dreaded "ground loop". The only real way to not get it is to not use the cig lighter (assuming you get the noise in the first place, you may not) and run a dedicated power source and an isolated ground.

You pretty much got the only two real ways to get sound out of the pc. You could use an fm modulator, but I wouldn't recommend it.

If you are keeping your HU, just use the aux in. You can't easily run a seperate amp and a hu together through the same speakers. You can, but it's a major pita.

If you're looking for a relatively quick and easy solution, the aux in is the way to go.....

Either way, sound quality will be ok, but not exceptional. If you're just a casual listener looking for tunes while you drive, I don't think it will matter if you use the onboard sound or an external card. Plus, you're going to the HU anyways..........

An amp requires power and a remote turn on signal at the least.

Sorry, not a whole lot of help, but it's all I've got for ya!

Good luck with your build.

thanks for enlightening me greatwhite.. didn't realize amp needs a power.. Then it needs to be connected to a car power as well? then that's out of my options... Sounds like more trouble for a noob like me... I am not gonna turn my car into a boombox... Those are for the pimps.... Didn't mean negative way.. U know..

I just want decent quality for average use... Hmm... I already purchased cig lighter dc power for q1.. sp8II-80w

I have all the accessories execept q1 itself and gps....

I was hoping someone had a solution with using cig lighter as power source...
