Are you powering the laptop off of (a) its battery (b) the cig lighter port or (c) a dedicated wire?

Well you`ve answered your own question.

Power Inverter = Noise (Electrical) which means humming/whining/buzzing in audio and flickering/waves in video along with decreased electronics life. Also if this power inverter that you are powering lots off of is all connected to your cig lighter port, then I hope you have fire coverage on your car insurance.

Well the source of your problems is the inverter. Since you recently changed it, a ground is a good thing to check. Better yet replace it.

replace it as in stop using an inverter.

A ground loop isolator is nothing more than a bandaid. But if your ears cannot tell the difference between the sounds, then good for you, but a GLI destroys audio quality.

The fact that is "fixed" or improved it, suggests it is the ground or insufficient wire guage to the inverter. Or both.
