Laptop stoped working

I have an hp omnibook 6000 that I wanted to use soley as a carputer. I removed the screen and keyboard to make it fit into my custome box. Now when I connect my monitor to the external monitor port, I get no video. I can hear the pc is running. Does anyone know if I need to have the screen and keyboard in place? I would just try it but I already sold the parts.

You probably have to select external video to get it to display out, and with no keyboard, you probably have to set it to "halt on no errors" in the bios.

I too disconnected my lcd and found that I had no video from the monitor out. Turns out I need my lcd in place with two little connectors plugged in for the external monitor to work. I don't need the actual lcd cable that plugs into the motherboard plugged in though.

How many things did you have to unplug to pull the lcd?

Or it could just be what 2k1Toaster toaster said...

If memory serves, all I had on my hp was 4 screws that hold the hinges from the top, two screws that hold it on from the back side, the the lcd cable that connects to the mb. I don't recall an option on the bios to select external video. I'll have to check on my friends hp and see what that says. I'll keep ya posted.

You were right. I had to set the bios video to both in order for it to work. Works fine now. Thanks again
