Am I not correct?
If I am, then I would need to use the Par Technologies IREZ Capsure (50600) Video Input Card ( http://www.shopping.com/xPO-Par_Tech..._Capsure_50600 )
This way I am using the front pc as a display only. Am I wrong?
well, yes and no.
if you use a remote access program, like RAdmin or UltraVNC, you will be using your 'display' computer only to control the 'truck' computer. kinda like a glorified mouse and keyboard. all the processing is done within the truck pc, not the display pc. the control end of the software (which will be on your display pc) uses very little resources and can run on less than a pentium I. all of your mp3 playback, gps, etc. will be at 1.2ghz, not 400mhz.
however, if you want to use your setup to play videos or DVDs, you might want to go with the wired solution, using the video input card, since there will be lag between what the truck pc and what is seen on the display pc if you're just using wireless remote access. the visual lag shouldn't be a problem for regular computing, but with video, it seems it would set the audio/video out of sync, and perhaps be jerky.

I think this is what I'll do.
The Irez card has a S-video and Composite input, my main pc has got neither, now what?
Get one of these cables: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...104290138&rd=1
Actually the S-Video & RCA need to be male ends?
Is there any software/driver to be installed?

you need to quit sippin' on that haterade, y0.
you think i paid for mine hell no! one of the free perks of the job. yah, speed is not everything; functionality is. today's "real" tablet pcs are considered to be running Win XP Tablet Edition; not Win CE which is used for development, low power processors, and terminal apps.
for the pccar environment, yours will do the job alright as a stand alone or as a large terminal/remote control. but when your running multiple memory sucking apps at the same time, the newer ones will do the job.
there is no haterade here. just a lack of clarification at the time. :-P

3 words... adapters, adapters, adapters
you would need female-to-male adapters. they're readily available.
no software/drivers needed.
or, you can get cheap PCI video cards with TV-Out/Video-Out for you main pc for $15-50.

OK, I got the 3400 Tablet pc today with NT4.0 installed. For now, the following is what I'll try: Upgrade/install windows XPPro. Use a cat5 cable (yellow pc to pc cable), use the ethernet ports on each pc and use the RDP software that comes on XPPro.
Wish me luck. Thanks for all your help. I'll be back for more questions. (Don't hide!)

Not good!
I put in the XPPro cd, it installed some files, then rebooted. Now it can't read from the (Piggy-back) CD drive.
It won't reboot to winNT either.
I guess it lost the cd driver.
I went to Fijutsi.com looking for CD Driver files but found none.
Went to Micro-Solutions, and found a bunch of files/drivers there. I'm not sure which one(s) I need. I haven't got much further yet (I'm at work now).
Any help would be much appreciated.
(I also have a win'98 and Win2000 opr.systems on cd)
I guess I need cd driver/boot file(s)?

You should go into BIOS and check the boot order. If it has a stock CD-R then you will be able to select it as the first boot device. Win XP and some Win 98 CD's are bootable so you will be able to install right off those. Also, if it has a floppy, make a Windows 98 startup disk (those can be downloaded for free) - the startup floppy will let you use CD-R in DOS, it's all rather easy from that point

no
Well, yes, but you'll need to mod it and it's nearly impossible for an average PC user.
