It's not a p4m... it's an athlon 64 board... and it worked almost perfectly before I tore it apart. It shouldn't be a toasted board... I'm seriously thinking I'll send it in to the guy I saw on ebay for 185. If it's fixed, cool.

If it's not, I don't pay anything, which is cool too.

Either way, a fixed laptop is worth 185 dollars to me more than a broken one is, so we'll see.

does it seem like it's starting & then everything cuts out at the same time, like you pulled the battery or something, & get that "pheew..." sound from the hardrive just dropping out ....then restart over & over again... if so, this is usually the system board... if it can be fixed then great.... I guess it's definatley worth it for $185... good luck with it...

Thanks bud. And yeah, it sounds sorta like that... combined with the dvd trying to read for bootable media at the same intervals.
