Toshiba laptop - no docking station, can I use this?

Hi. I just bought a new Toshiba laptop for home use and I'd like to incorporate it into my SUV..... Toshiba customer service told me that there is no docking station or port replicator that will work with this unit, but they recommended using this.

What would be the pros/cons be to using this ???
I can see that it does not include a power inverter or switch, so I'll have to wire that up myself. But other than that, this looks like it would work for my intended use (GPS, DVD, MP3 player). I'll be looking into a wireless keyboard/mouse combo as well.

Any help would be great, thanks!

That port replicator (it can hardly be called a docking station) has no provisions for powering the PC.
So you're going to have to wire up a switch for the laptop to get it to turn on. You're still facing the same major hurdle that other laptop-based setups face....

The only value I see in that is having a seperate set of settings for video and the external keybaoard and mouse connected to the replicator. I suppose that's worth something, but hardly worth $125, IMHO.

Gotcha. I knew that I'd have the startup/shutdown/power supply problem to deal with still. I figure this might act as a "jumper harness" so that I wouldn't have to plug in all those separate cables all the time. (FYI, that port rep is about $30-$40 on ebay, I was just showing all the specs from the Toshiba site)

Thanks for the reply.
