can I install an old hp pavilion zv5000 laptop monitor in my truck as a screen?

my lappie died and as I was scrapping it (and poking at it) I thought to myself...hey, maybe I could install this old monitor into the top of my truck...

so here it is. it's an hp pavilion zv5260 to be specific. do I need to crack open the casing or can I just find a way to hook it up from the wires sticking out the bottom? I am a total newbie at this and with computers, but I wanna try it out atleast. I can follow directions like a soldier in the trenches so if someone could give me some help I would be most grateful....

I know this has been discussed in the forums before, but your biggest problem is that you'd need a special interface to be able to use the screen. In most cases it's just not worth the money/effort.

You need a controller board, and compaq/hp is notorious for proprietary connectors anyways. So you will need that old mainboard from the broken lappy. Then you can try to find where the VGA signal is sent from, but I highly doubt it will be that easy.

Crack open that casing and look at the back panel. See what kind of panel is in there. Maybe Samsung or Hitachi. Then search the web for a controller interface and backlight inverter for it.

It is going to cost you about $200 - $300 to get it to work.

You can probably sell it on ebay for like $20-$30
