Tilting LCD with a small-remote joystick!

Has anyone ever mounted the LCD display to the tilt mechanism from a side mirror and used the supporting (little) joy-stick thingy to control the angle of the screen?

I thought this would help with glare from various angels.

thought about doing it. I was going to pick up another 93 Dakota mirror (as it is a larger mirror, stronger motors, etc.) and use that. But, like any other great idea I have, this too is on the back burner.

Hey - Motorcity, I moved from Detroit (Warren) 3 years ago... Glad to see the Wings and Tigers are doing so well! Best of luck on your web site! It's looking good! The south has been a blast! LOTS of older cars in great shape (no salt - and more people who like to work on them)
--on topic--

Anyway, My stang has lots of room after moving the A/C controls... its like a 3DIN opening. Their should be plenty of room to mount the tilt mechanism behind the screen and place the joystick just below the screen. I'll let you know what I find.

Wings and Pistons are in the playoffs this year. Tigers look great, hope they have another good run.

I want to move south so bad, but the wife says we have to take her mom if we go so that is out of the question. Guess I am stuck here for a while.

Personally I want to head a little further south than you, to FL. I am sick and tired of this crap weather. You know opening day was 70, and not 3 days later we got 2" of you know what. Nothing new for MI, but still sucks.

Thanks for the input on my site, one of these days I will have the time to finish it and open the store part of it.

Good luck with your remote project!

It's a race to the patent office!

That is to say I've thought about doing this as well...but as with Motorcity, other things have taken priority.

Why this concern about large motors? Has someone tried this before with less than satisfactory results with "small" motors? I can't imagine that an LCD would be much heavier than the glass it was replacing.

Good luck...I'll be interested to see any results!

Add in the weight of the touch screen, lcd controller, touch controller, backlight inverter, and cables. You are looking at close to 3 lbs. which is about 8x more than a pc. of mirror glass.

The deciding factor will likely be whatever I can find at the bone yard.

If you just need the motors, Electronics Goldmine has em for $1.50 a set. I only played with the set I got a little but they work and seem decent.
