DWW-700M - opening mechanism dieing

Please forgive me if this has been asked before. I'm posting from my work, so couldn't do an extensive search.

The mechanism on my 700M is dieing? 80% of the time it does not close properly and starts acting as a christmas tree (lights flashing and screen sticking out of the dash)

Is there a way to solve this issue ?

Or alternatively, does anybody have any pictures of how to disassemble the screen so I can use the panel fixed in my dashboard ?
Anybody made a home-made motorised unit which is more rigid than the dww ones ?

Thanks for your help

It sounds like it is getting stuck. If you gently help it close, does it still flash? Mine did the same and I found thick grease coated on the side of the panel was causing it to stick. I cleaned it off with WD40 and it worked fine.

it used to do that, but it's gotten worse lately.
Even if it's closing ok it goes christmas tree on me.

Also it started making a horrible noise when operating, like gears not properly meshing.

I would prefer to remove the mechanism all together and use the panel fixed in my dash. Any hints in this or should I just "baldly go where no man has gone before" ?

I had Armen @ digitalww.com repair mine for me. He did a great job. If you wanted it ripped apart to use just the display and touchscreen, I don't think it would be that hard. There may even be instructions out there somewhere...

I did this modification on the screen, unfortunately it doesn't show how to disassemble the chassis (as far as I remember ... it's been over a year now)

I'll check it out tonight.
