i got it. I used the reg settings from post #12 on this thread http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/lcd-...m-drivers.html

All I did was modify the long string as vlad described above and now the display settings report 800x480 and the monitor confirms that it's getting that input as well.

Thanks guys!

Hi,

I am using 855GME and 700IDT, i would like it to display at 800x480.

I have tried your custom driver, registry trick and powerstripe...but i am still stuck at 800x600.

BTW, there is a new IEGD 7 on intel website, possible to customise based on that?

Pls advise.

Thanks

Test hbernation. In the end I went back to 800x480 with regular intel drivers, because hibernation stopped working (and that is important to me).

No, with regular drivers I had to stay with 800x600.

I feel the same, but hibernation is very important to me. CarPC will hibernate when ignition is off, and will resume when ignition is on. I tought of not using hibernation, and then I installed TinyXP to reduce the boot time, but still is much longer than just resume from hibernation, not mentioning that hibernation will return to where you were in the apps, etc...

I am currently using a regular PC MoBo, and I am considering buying a mini-itx board, and I hope to get 800x480 from it with hibernation.

Make sure you do your research on the Mini-ITX systems

Because the Via systems CANNOT do 800x480 unless your running Linux and it has been this way for YEARS.

I am getting 800x480 out of my 945GM chipset using the drivers in this thread on Vista just fine (no Aero mind you, but I am willing to live without that for the moment).

Hi. OK but are you having problems with hybernation? Btw, in my case the chipset is Intel 815.

I don't think the 815 is part of the same chipset family

This thread is about getting 800x480 out of the 945GM/GMA950 chipsets though.

I am using the 945GM chipset and the drivers from this thread work to give me 800x480 and I can hibernate on Vista just fine with them.

Nope

They are all 32 bit drivers and the install packages are not digitally signed (an x64 requirement).

i am using 855 chipset with Xenarc 700IDT

manage to get it display at 800x480 using version 5.1 with hacked registry and power stripe

however the width of the display is few pixel too wide, so part of the screen is "cropped" away.

tried to tweak the value but still cannot get it right.

any idea?

Could someone please help me write a custom driver for the 945G that supports 1440x900? Thanks in advance.
