Hi,

I gave up trying with this drivers, and bought the new Intel Little Valley D201GLY, its cheap and works for my requirements.

The driver come with 800x480 as an option in the resolution settings.

I have been following this thread for a long time....

I just upgraded my old VIA CarPC to a brand new Jetway JF9 Core 2 Duo combo, and I am running Vista 64 bit ultimate with aero just fine... BUT, of course I want to get 800x480 on my Xenarc now...

In short, am I totally SOL on getting the 945GM hack to make this work on Vista 64 Ultimate?

thanks

Have been reading this thread too while trying to solve my own setup issue.

I have a 945GM based board, the Aopen 945GMt-FA. I have a slightly odd ball monitor, which is the one sold on digitalww call DWW-6500. It's a 6.5" touchscreen with native resolution of 800*480 (ha ha, so what's new). I tried to use the intel driver hack by modifying the DTD, but for some strange reason, I ended up with 640*480 instead of 800*480.

I am using
Code:
[NonEDIDMode_AddSwSettings] HKR,, TotalDTDCount, %REG_DWORD%, 1 ; This shows number of DTDs to be used. ; 0-->Disable the feature. ;Following keys have 20 bytes (18 byte DTD + 2 Byte flags). HKR,, DTD_1,%REG_BINARY%, 96,96,20,E8,30,E0,8E,10,28,50,D3,C0,00,00,00,00,00 ,00,37,01 ;800x480@60...Non-Interlaced, Xenarc Timing

can anyone help?

Since there are no intel embedded drivers for Vista or XP-64, I believe that 800x480 is not happening at this time. The only way I have ever been able to get 800x480 functioning on intel graphics chipsets is with some form of the embedded drivers.

For a carPC, I would seriously consider running XP anyway. Vista Ultimata contains unnecessary bloat, will slow your boot times down and possibly cause compatibility issues with frontends and other software.

Thanks for your info on the embedded drivers WiCKeD-

As far as Vista goes in the car, it is really fantastic, although most hard-core CarPC guys dismiss it for whatever reasons. It boots WAY faster than my XP install ever did, same for shutdown, is faster in every way possible, and I have gotten nearly all of my peripherals to work fine with it (and some that never worked on my XP setup). Just ordered the Xenarc Vista touch controller mod, and drivers are coming soon for the Griffin Powermate, so the 800x480 problem is the only thing I am really faced with. I do not use a front end BTW, but the Centrafuse people seemed to think it would work fine if I were to try it. I have had it with XP, and I am not going back, either at home or in the car.

In any case, sorry for the long-winded explanation....and thanks again for your thoughts on the embedded driver issue/problem...

The only luck I've had with my 1505 to make the VGA output 800X480 was when I switched port order on the ssgid file to something with "4" in the second placeholder (for example, 54000)...I've never been able to create a driver install that would simultaneously provide video to my laptop's display while doing so, however. I've tried so many configs, even tried assembling my own drivers with the driver development kit from intel. My final solution? Create another partition on my laptop's hard drive, and put another instance of XP on it that runs the embedded drivers and loads straight to Road Runner. A bit drastic, yes, but it works.

I just tried the one here :
http://moschini.org/ALL-LVDS-VGA-800x480-Xenarc.zip which was posted bu Guiliano on post no 29 (Thanks G) on my 855 chipset with my lilliput screen and though it didnt work with 800x480 , it did work with 720x480 which was enough for me. - i then set my rr.ini file to reflect this , and then set the general.ini in my skin to default 800x600 and display to 720x480

Yes, RR works on vista , but i had quite a few problems with it. I had to set it to xp compatability mode to be able to change sounds , and then only in a limited capacity. when i changed it to xp compatability the GPS didnt work. Then the music started resetting and funny things started to happen so i gave up and tried XP - waaaay easier
