Sure, that would help..
And it's more a matter of when than if, as I'm fairly sure I can build the package... in the next few days, most likely. I'll be out of town on Sunday and Monday.
Analog VGA only is a fairly simple build.

Thanks, That will work out great then.. I will still be able to use my big monitor as i am setting up my machine in the living room, and then when my Xenarc 700tsv is hooked up, and it does not send it's info to the computer, the 800x480 will be in the list..
I hope that I am understanding this correctly..
Thanks, as I said before, this is a HUGE help.. Wish i could do something to help people with their systems, just do not have that type of skills...

That should be correct.
You'll probably be the first to confirm whether that scenario is true.
The INF tweak is supposed to work with the 965/945 chipsets, but since it's not well documented it's hit or miss as to why it works / doesn't work / if it works.

Felix, try it out and see. What you said is probably true, but it would be nice to confirm that. I think the best way to try it would be to have the xenarc connected only (no big screen).
If you want to try, set the resolution to 800x600 and the refresh rate to 60hz BEFORE disconnecting the big screen so the xenarc doesn't get fussy. Hopefully you'll see the new resolution available at that point.

OKAY gentlemen, G965 has no luck..
Downloaded the .zip package from intel, edited the inf file by putting int he 96,96 line in place of the dtd_1 string that was there previously..
Uninstalled the existing Intel graphics driver, rebooted with the Xenarc plugged into the SVGA out.
Windows did plug and play for the display adapter, i directed it to the downloaded/edited Intel driver folder..
It installed fine until it needed a file igxpxa32.cpa
That file was not in the 17MB of files that was downloaded. I did find it in the windows/system32 folder and directed the installer to use that file..
All done and after another reboot there is no 800x480 to be found... Yes i looked all through the advanced list of modes, and also the Intel tab with a list of display modes.
How are all the people that have Xenarcs using them? Does no one else have the Intel G965 chipset?
ANy suggestions are welcome..

The entire section for the .INF file should look like this:
[NonEDIDMode_AddSwSettings]
HKR,, TotalDTDCount, %REG_DWORD%, 1 ; This shows number of DTDs to be used. ; 0-->Disable the feature.
;Following keys have 20 bytes (18 byte DTD + 2 Byte flags).
HKR,, DTD_1,%REG_BINARY%, 96,96,20,E8,30,E0,8E,10,28,50,D3,C0,00,00,00,00,00 ,00,37,01 ;800x480@60...Non-Interlaced, Xenarc Timing
Did you change the TotalDTDCount entry from 0 to 1 ?
If not, you can search the registry (regedit.exe) for the TotalDTDCount and verify that it's set to 1. Also search for DTD_1, make sure the byte entries are there.
The keys you're looking for will be somewhere under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\.
This tweak is SUPPOSED to work on the G965 graphics chipset, and rumored to work on the 945GM as well.
I'm going to bite the bullet this week and obtain a Xenarc 700-series monitor, preferably used through eBay or the classifieds.
If anybody has an "extra" Xenarc they want to sell (or rent), I'll give you a couple hundred for one.

All right, copied the entry above into the inf file, uninstalle/reinstalled the Intel driver..
I now have 800x480 in my List! WooHoo
Well, kind of done, it is saying refresh rate of 601Hz...
The monitor just says out of range.. is one of the numbers incorrect?? i checked the registry, the entries for DTD_1 are exactly as the ones i put into the inf file..
if i open up the registry entry for DTD_1, the values look correct except there are symbols on the right edge of the display panel.. i will have to install some software if you want a screenshot of that, as i have a very minimal install on the car computer..

Here's a trick for capturing displays:
Hitting the Printscreen button will capture an image of the entire screen, and copy it to the clipboard.
Hitting ALT+Printscreen will capture an image of the Active Window only, whatever you have active in the foreground.
Once you've captured the image, run Paintbrush (pbrush.exe), and you can paste it in as a new image. Save it as a Jpg, and you can post it here.
And I'm glad that it works (sortof).. I'll look at the numbers again, and verify the settings..
According to Xenarc, the monitor should display 61 Hz as the refresh.
It's possible that I have the refresh rate off by an order of magnitude..
The first two bytes, 96,96, are what control the refresh rate.
9696 Hex in Decimal is 38550, or what is supposed to be 38.55 Mhz.
Try this: Go into the registry, and change the first two bytes in DTD_1 to 0F 0F.
0F 0F = 3855.
Let us know, thanks.

Still have 800x480 at 601Hz
The other resolutions seem to haer odd refresh rates now also..
I installed Irfanview, like i said, I had a minimal install, no Pbrush.exe
Here a couple pics to show what is happening.

Okay, the characters are just ASCII equivalents of the hex numbers.. doesn't matter.
I'm going to snag a Xenarc sometime later this week, and do some more testing on my own..
Also I have my LVDS cable, so I'm going to be testing 800 x 480 on that LCD as well.. but that's a different issue.

One other thing to try is to change the C0 byte to 0C.. I may have had that backwards.
