OK I will try to import it. I will have to do it tomorrow, because I already left.
I dont want to sound lazy, but can you post here (or PM) your registry key? (I mean, in regedit just highlight the big number key {xxxxx} and click export). I just want to compare your key with the other I downloaded and mine. What is that big number under { }s? Isnt it a card ID or something that would change for every card model? If it is card related, I just need to add the subkeys and values under my {number} key? Btw, what is your card model? Thanks again.

Sure, here you go. The big string is just an identifier. I use an onboard 855GME, and the GUID (long string) changes at every reinstall.

BTW, remember to rename this file from .txt to a .reg to be able to change your registry automatically.

Hi psyrex! I imported the reg file, rebooted and no effect. I edited the reg file to use my GUID, imported, rebooted and same thing.

So, today I've formatted my CarPC , and before doing anything else, I installed the Intel EIGD 5.1 drivers, this time it installed without errors. Then, I've imported the reg file (edited using the new GUID key), rebooted and no luck still. I mean, screen is still set at 800x600.

Am I missing some steps? If I go to display properties, advanced, list all modes, 800x480 is not listed. I have everything from 640x480 to 1600x1200 but no 800x480.

Thanks!

Hmm, that seems like it's not even reading the reg entries. From my experience, it did that when the wrong drivers were loaded. Can you check with the whole "Don't search, I'll choose the driver to install" thing?

Also, you can try entering the numbers when creating the drivers. See post 9 (first page). It looks like that, but different numbers.

Thumbs up It works!

Hey! It works!!!

What I did:
1) Reinstall XP (not really necessary)
2) Install Intel EIGD 5.1 driver (because of 815 chipset)
3) DO NOT REBOOT after driver installation
4) Open the psyrex .reg file and change the GUID to my GUID
5) Import the .reg file (double click it)
6) Reboot
7) Windows started with the screen streched up (couldn't see the top of the windows). This is because psyrex .reg was for a 7" Lilliput, and mine is 8".
8) Installed powerstrip
9) Reboot
10) Opened powerstrip "Advanced Timing Options" and clicked a few times on the Blue arrow (right "cross", bottom) and the screen started adjusting and it fixed on the right proportions. Here is the screenshot of the settings that worked ok:

I have a onboard VGA with intel 815 chipset and using Lilliput 889GL-80NP/C/T (widescreen, 800x480).

Thanks a lot psyrex for all the help and the reg file!

Also thanks WiCKeD 5.9L who started this thread and also Merzbow for that post with the original reg file.

Awesome, it worked for you! You can now leave it as is, if you don't want to rock the boat, but you can also try using those numbers in the registry, and see if you can get it working perfectly (without needing powerstrip). I'm glad I could help.

Hi,

I noticed that the Gamma control is not working. Do you use this feature (control the luminosity of your screen)?

I don't know if this problem is caused by the driver not supporting gamma adjustment (??) or the fact that Powerstrip is running (will uninstall it soon).

I've never tried gamma control. I'll have to check after I get home from work.

Hi, as I posted before I could make it work by using both the .reg file and the PowerStrip vertical adjustment.

Now I would like to have it working without using powerstrip, as you suggested.

Please take a look at this post, we just need to map what powerstrip field map to what registry value (I posted a little table).

Thanks a lot.

Intel 82852/82855 on a laptop still not working

Giuliano,

I have a laptop with a single vga output on the back (and a connected laptop monitor of course) showing up as an Intel 82852/82855 GM/GME

I tried your driver package for laptops for the 855GME and rebooted. The display was unreadable. Had to go into safe mode and put the original Intel driver back in.

Did I do something wrong?

vlad:

I'm unable to test the gamma at this time. Waiting for a new part that I ordered to come in (should've sprung for something faster than ground shipping). As for the powerstrip numbers, I'm sorry to say it's really trial and error. Since from your post #110 above that the horizontal seems fine, it shouldn't be too much to just keep adjusting the vertical until it works for you.

freudie1:

I believe Giuliano's driver has the DTD for 800x480 already plugged in. Just follow the directions from the link on the first post to create your own driver without a DTD, and then play with the registry entries to find the sweet spot for your particular setup. (Remember to include both VGA and LVDS as I'm thinking your laptop screen is on the LVDS channel and it'll suck if you forget to include it, haha.)

800x480 945GM forces a choice between native res or Aero

Hey Giuliano

I downloaded your 800x480 945GM driver package for Vista and it provides native resolution on my Xenarc display, however, after installing the driver and updating the Windows Experience Index, it drops from 2.3 overall to 1.0 overall when going from the WDDM drivers to the package you have. This seems to be because the driver package causes the 3d score to drop and I believe that is becuse these drivers don't support Direct 3D.

So, this leaves you with a choice to make:

Native resolution or 800x600 and the Aero interface.

I suspect this is a base driver issue so editing the INF is not going to do much for me. Has anyone gotten the 945GM to do both Aero and 800x480 on a Xenarc?

jowjan, also check if your hibernation works.

Hibernation is working, I just have no Aero and a 1 on 3D score after going with the edited driver.

I mean I would rather have the native res than Aero, but I am wondering if the base reference driver we are using even supports it at all or not because from what I can tell the edits aren't anything that should be causing a drop in the 3D score.

I'm not sure...but I think I got this working for my 945GM-equipped laptop.

Last night, I tried the laptop version of the drivers Giulliano posted some time ago. The laptop booted to a blank screen on two separate attempts at installation (using the "have disk" method of driver selection enforcement). After going back to the regular drivers, on a whim (on the way to work this morning), I tried again, this time from the touch screen in the car. When the machine booted back up, I missed the resolution the screen came up at, but was surprised to find that everything had proper aspect ratio. The screen position needed to be adjusted, but circles looked like circles. I didn't have time to fiddle with it (I was in the parking lot at work, ready to start a new day), but I was using the IEGD 5.1 drivers (or were they 6.1?) posted on about the third page of this thread.

Will be back with my findings later tonite.

BTW, what are the settings to get Road Runner up and running with 800 X 480? Do you just type in the resolution in RR config?
