I did it from powerstrip. how do i translate the timing from powerstrip to DTD values? I too will prefer to use registry setting instead of powering up powerstrip all the time.

It's a bit tricky to find and the procedure to find the values is listed earlier in this thread. You may also have to then convert decimal to hex (can't remember).
If you can't figure it out, let me know.

Hi fella.. just wondering if you think this is possible.
I have a minimac 1.66 with a 945 chipset / GMA950 graphics set. I have just bought a matrox dualhead2go digital box which I was hoping would split a 1600x600 resolution over my 2 800x600 screens (well there 800x480, but I want to use 800x600). Anyway installed them all but it says in the matrox manual to just select the streched screen res. BUT 1600 x 600 isnt there.
Do you think its possible to edit the drivers to make it output at this res ?
cheers buddy

That Matrox stuff is a completely different beast than what is going on in this thread. Using the info in this thread you can get the GMA950 to output 800X480, but that is it.
You may want to contact Matrox for the other issue.

Hi m8.. I know its different I wasnt asking that. I was simply asking if you think it would be possible to get it to output at 1600x600 as getting the gfx chip to output at a different res is what this thread is about.. which is why I posted it in this thread !
nevermind m8, I will look elsewhere

Well if you are trying to simply get the GMA950 to output at 1600 X 600 then you will need to calculate the DTD string for that.
As far as to how your Matrox thing would split that is beyond the scope of what is here and was at the root of your question.

Anyone have the drivers from the start of the thread, specifically the laptop ones? The links are dead.

I have a few of these but not the laptop one.
Send me an email to crease-guard AT sbcglobal DOT net and I'll forward what I got.

I think I may have a solution that will not require you to reinstall drivers. Go to http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=947830 and read the method they have posted there. I tried this on my board (MSI Fuzzy GM965) to get a resolution of 800x480. What I did was use the DTD Calculator with the settings from the xenarc website, and inputted these settings into the DTD calculator. I then wrote these settings to the registry, and by playing around with both the intel app that sets the resolution, and the built-in "display properties" in windows, I was able to get 800x480. It can get a little complicated, and I only used this method because powerstrip didn't work. It's kind of a brute force way to do it, but it gets the job done.

i tried to follow your post but i got hella lost . What i;m trying to do is ive got an old fujitsu s6120 with 82825/82855 gm/gme onboard and i need to get it to output 800x480. My screen is a cheapy off ebay and not a xenarc or anything. Whats the best course of action? The screen is going to arrive soon, and everything software and hardware wise but the screen is setup.
Hows the best way to get the display to output at 800x480???

The best thing to do is to try and use powerstrip first. If powerstrip doesn't work, then you'll have to try the driver reinstall method, or the method I posted. I know, it's very complicated, and it's very difficult to understand. It will help if you read the linked articles from the post I linked to. I said that I used xenarc timings, but these timings will really work with just about any screen (I'm actually testing it on an old gateway CRT). I just used the timings to get it to output an 800x480 image. The only thing that will probably be necessary to get it to work on another (non-xenarc) screen is adjusting the horizontal/vertical position of the image, which can be done on the screen itself using the OSD.

I have a Mac Mini with the Intell 945GM with DVI and a Xenarc 700TSV. I had to manually install the drivers linked here:
http://cartft.com/support/drivers/Intel_800x480/
These let me pick more resolutions, including 800x480. However, 800x480 puts my screen in a 'letterbox' format and the Xenarc shows it as 800x600. If I put it to 720x480, things seem properly proportioned and the screen is filled, but the Xenarc shows detects it as 800x480. This is very workable for me. There is only one problem: since installing the driver, I cannot no longer go in to Safe Mode - it just restarts the PC. This isn't a big deal for me, but I wanted it known. Maybe there is a fix? And sorry for reviving an almost dead thread.

Hello,
I have a Mobile Intel 945GM Express Chipset Family on a Toshiba laptop.
Can anyone provide the following drivers from the original posts, they don't seem to be avaliable any longer?
945GM-LVDS-VGA-800x480-Xenarc.zip
ALL-LVDS-VGA-800x480-Xenarc.zip
My understanding is I need the LVDS versions.
Or should I use powerstrip, due to possible hibernation/standby issues?
Any other options or recommendations?
Regards,
DEM_968.
