Well the previous poster did not follow through. I asked him to deal with the next person asking the question so I would not have to keep doing it forever .

I will just post the solution and hope that it stays instead of disappearing once it is shown in public.

Basically it is just an expression of the fact the the US policy toward consumer protection is total crap. Customer support in the US told me to buy a new unit If you simply go to the Canadian panasonic site and click on support, drivers firmware and search for
CFVDW07M

You will find a new firmware that allows it to work with any computer, and meiwds that works with any computer (at least using 2k or xp, don't know about Vista)... good luck hopefully they don't remove it.

Hi sxott

Thanx very much for sharing .. hope too they don't remove it, that would be a shame. I'm trying it now on a CF-VDW07CHM display, but after i flashed the firmware from the link it doesn't boot anymore, just read and green led flashing all the time. It seems though that the bootloader is ok, since i can flash another firmware onto it. Just wondering, which version of the display does other people have, at what firmware versions have people got working with non panasonic pc?

The newest firmware (the one on the site) is necessary to use it with XP not 2k, and necessary to use it on a PC other than panasonic.

It sounds bad frankly if it will not boot up now. You should be able to do that unless you borked it. Read their directions on loading the firmware I remember it was complicated, but I don't have mine anymore I sold it to some guy who uses it for navigation on his boat.
