Transflective Panasonic wireless Display (CF-VDW07) Q&A

Well I have a Panasonic CF-VDW07. I took it apart to see what makes it tick, and I have tried to use it, but I don't have the software that is supposed to come with it. I am still trying to see if I can get my hands on some.

As of now I took the display apart to see if the people of wisdom here can give any information on the type of panel, backlight, touch panel etc...

Here is the first picture that shows the main circuit board. Unfortunately there is another little one below it that connects to a serial port, but I did not really want to disembowel it further as I don't want to harm it.

Images are quite large

Left side of board with Zero insertion force spot for Buttons, Display, 8-wire touchpanel from bottom to top

The chip that says SST on it in big letters is just memory (39vf040, 70-4c-wh, 0051322-d)
I am not sure what is on the chip under the sticker. That is just the part number for the PCB in its entirety.
There are two maxim integrated products chips I cannot make out.
Maxim by display
MAX3243EEA*
0151

Maxim by battery
MAX?
I think they may have something to do with wireless, but why two then?

I am unsure what the Sharp 07VZ1h chip does.
I am trying to find the touch screen controller still, but haven't found the chip for that yet.

Bottom part of Board another ZIF that is not used.

This picture shows the text on the Touchpanel itself, probably needs to be mirrored or something.

Here it is mirrored etc Reads GUNZE.JP.2148710 MDS 15
so I guess 2148710 is the touchscreen model.
http://www.gunze.co.jp/denzai/eng/pr...ilm_glass.html Describes the panel characteristics. I am still unsure of compatible touchscreen controllers.

There is a PDF for an 8.4" from GunzeUS but I am almost positive it is a different model. http://www.gunzeusa.com/data/Unsorte...2)-20148-1.pdf

The back of the LCD frame. It reads tm08c360r and qnc2a000592 neither of which give any hits in google.
Edit:
MotorCity was kind enough to inform me that the LCD panel is LTM08C360R Apparently the L is under the tape.

The questions I have are
1) Anybody know where I can get any spec sheets for the parts?
2) What other sort of controllers would work with touch screen or LCD display?
4) Any other information you think is relevant

Answered
3) Getting the software to run the wireless display. Panasonic doesn't like giving it out.
I do not know why but they (panasonic) don't seem to want to help.

The software for the unit can not be down loaded. Please obtain and forward the invoice from the Panasonic reseller the unit was purchased from. I will also need the Firmware version the unit. The firmware version can be found under the menu of the unit under Firmware tab.

I will look into what can be done to further assist in your request.

I eventually after much work found a legal copy of the software though they never helped me with my request

Hibernation works fine.

Cool Same problem with CF-VDW07

Hi,

I have the same problem with my CF-VDW07.
I have drivers for windows 98, nt and 2000 but not for XP.

I can't get MeiWDS installed, message: only works on Panasonic Pc appears.

I can't find the correct version of MeiWDS, no reply from panasonic, maybe you can help me.

Further connection seems to be ok, with my laptop.

regards
Rob

Check your pm.

2000 drivers will probably work with XP btw...if you update the firmware anyway.

Hi,

I still have the same problem with my CF-VDw07.

After installing MeiWDS, i always have the message: "only works on Panasonic Pc" appears and i can't connect my laptop.

I read then that anyone has resolved this problem with the upgrade of the firmware.

Where could i find this firmware and how could i upgrade it?

Could you, please, give me too this information to resolve my problem, it will be great ?

best regards
Alain

You can also check out servicemanuals.net they have a lot of service manuals. I got a data sheet from them and it gives you a lot of info. Hope that helps. Also there are many more service manual sites.

Hey Guys,

I've also got a VDW-07, that worked fine with my CF-07 on my bike. But my CF-07 is dead and I'm trying to get it to work with a Dell with no luck. Been searching for updates, I can get a 802.11 connection established, but that's it.

Edit: I have MeiWDS that at least loads up fine on the Dell and the display firmware is V1.00L12.

If someone could point me in the right direction that would be great, been looking around off and on for about 2 months with no luck.

I think it may be a issue with the display needing a firmware update to work with the stuff from Nobletech. It worked fine with the cf-07 I received it with. I may take the drive out of my cf-07 and see what I can find driver wise on that (it was running windoze 2000), it's pretty much a time issue now.

Yea i also have the cf-07 but i don't have the dock and i don't know how to install onto it without the dock cause it has no video out .. i tried taking it apart but it has a microdrive and i have no adapters to use for one of those so that is why i am trying to get this to work on my laptop.. but i really would like to get the whole system working the way it is supposed to. cause it would make a great car computer.
