EBY701 vs. HR702

EBY701: http://www.lilliput.cn/EBY701-np.HTML
HR702: http://www.lilliput.cn/HR702-NP.HTML

Hello,

I ordered a lilliput EBY701 off ebay and they accidentally sent me an HR702 (headrest and standalone).

Did I luck out or should I return it? Which is better?

Thanks

This is what I was expecting:

This is what I got (it seems to be a redesign of the old HR702):

Kinda just depends on what you are trying to do. I can see that headrest surround being nice to pop it in and out of... but it all depends on what you are trying to do.

I will not be using it as a headrest monitor. Basically it comes down to comparing the two monitors tech specs. What's better.. 16:9 or 15:9?

I can tell you that they're lying - the true aspect of both monitors is 15:9.

A LCD with a native resolution of 800 x 480 has a aspect of 15:9.

You can play a 16:9 movie on both of them, and what you'll get is some black bars on the top and bottom to fill out the unused pixels.

Well this is what it says....

The EBY-701 is a 7" Native Widescreen VGA Touch Screen Monitor. I ts one of a select few native widescreen monitors and it has been designed to eliminate the black bars and small picture associated with DVD playback in a 16:9 screen ratio. Now you can watch a movie in the same format it was shot. The Sharp TFT LCD screen has an amazing life-like picture. As an added bonus, every 701 comes with a screen protector.

Which would you keep?

Heard the 702 is a better screen than the 701.

What kind of car do you drive? I have a Jetta MKIV and the HR-702 fit PERFECTLY in the space where the double-dins where after removing the top bezel of the radio cage. Best part, it sits flush and I can still pop the screen out if I ever want to.

Really? Better in what way?

See the thing is, both screens will fit my car fine.

Does 800x480 work as it is supposed to? I'm wondering because a 15:9 monitor has a native resolution of 800x480. Now, the 701 is claimed to be 16:9, so how is it possible to have the same native resolution as a 15:9 monitor?

I believe the 702 is 800x600 and the 701 is 800x480.

Here's the kicker --- what video chipset are you using? I don't believe any of the S3's will support 800x480 properly because those chips don't support custom resolutions.

I have the 701 and think it looks like crap. However, I haven't had experience with any other brand or model, so I'm not sure how bad or good it is on a relative scale.

If this is true, then my crappy results could be due to me running it at 800x600. My mobo doesn't support 800x480
