Anybody recongnize these connectors?

Does anyone know the name or specs for the connectors on the ends of the cable? I am looking to extend the cable and was hoping to not have to cut the ribbon in half to do it. So if possible I want to purchase one of the connectors and then run wires from it to the harness. Need to know what it is to find one ...

I have read on the forum the in's and out's for extending the cable on the lcd but have not been able to see any of the pictures. The invertor on mine is in the lcd so hopefully it will work. I want to try to come up with a way to try it without ruining the existing wiring.

I appreciate any help you guys can provide.

Can't help you with the part numbers, but it looks like you can use some standard 1.25mm, 1.27mm or 1.5mm (measure the pitch) headers and sockets.

Even if you know the partnumbers, then it's still pretty unlikely that you'll find them somewhere.

The panel side is a 20 pin JAE FI series connector. A hirose DF14 series is compatible and easier to buy (Digikey and Mouser sell the connectors and crimp terminals)
The dual row connector also looks like a JAE, but I can't tell for sure if it is an FI series or not.

Thanks guys for the quick answer .. you guys are good! I obviously don't have any experience in this ... so could you answer one other thing ?? ...

I see that digikey has the connector ... df14-20s-1.25c .... and the description mentions a crimp. Is this something that can be soldered or do I need a crimper of some sort?

The plan was to take the connector, solder some ribbon cable or maybe even use solid cat5 cable and then maybe do the header on the other end ??

I don't think soldering is a viable solution.

Here's a pic of my HRS (Hirose) crip tool. DF13 crimp head installed. DF14 similar. Note the tractor feed. THe crimp terminals come on a carrier strip because they are so tiny. And, you can't just take needle nose pliers and try to crimp the termial either. The crimp end has to be just right, or it won't fit into the connector housing.

What did that crimper cost you? Somewhere around $1k, I bet?

And I have successfully soldered to those connectors..

But I have to warn anybody that it was a MAJOR pain in the @$$, and forced me to use clippers to cut down the crimp tabs on each connector to get them to fit in the housing.

The tool with DF13 crimp head was 832.00 from Digikey.

They have the dedicated DF14 tool for 1118.00, http://www.digikey.com/scripts/DkSea...659149&Site=US

but I bought the DF14 crimp head for the hand tool from another vendor. That was 400.00

So I have a little over 1200 into my HRS tools, and that will only crimp 2 different terminals.

Damn you Hirose!!

AMP and Molex prices are not much different, if that comforts you...

Personally I prefer to use alround tools, and avoid using these tiny terminals (for which you need dedicated stuff indeed).

Actually Waldom/Molex crimper are much cheaper. I own several pair.
Plus, I can find good quality Molex crimpers on ebay for 20-30.00 USD
which less than 15% of new cost.
