Fitting touchscreen in Peugeot 207

Goodevening,

I've recently bought a Peugeot 207, and as computers are a great hobby of mine (and my after-school job), I want one installed in my car.

The centreconsole looks like this:

My question is, whether I will be able to install a 7" lilliput monitor, if I remove the radio and storage room?
I want to create my own bezel (unless one exists already?), so that the install will look more or less OEM (thus I do not want an indash touchscreen).

The slots are standard 1DIN's.

If I were to create a bezel myself, how would I make it removeable again?

It is very easy on your part. You will remove the stock HU, and the empty drawer there (storage), and voila: enough place to have a double DIN unit. Wich is exact size of a 7" display...

You could that, which is probably the best idea...or you could see if the factory nav system uses a 7" monitor. If so, buy your self the bezel, and replace the factory central information display you have at the moment.

I've considered both options actually. I like the first one better, as I am worried that the latter will put the screen too far away for comfortable (read: safe) use while driving

My concern with the first option is, how I should mount the monitor?
It would need a bezel, which I can remove again like an ordinary DIN-radio. Any good ideas for this?

I did so.. I bought a secondary bezel and got it slaughtered.

What i am trying to say is that if you buy a replacement bezel to play with, you risk almost nothing, just some work... I preffered to have the monitor disasambled, and i have fixed the TFT touchscreen inside my modified bezel, using the same mounts i found inside the original case of the display.

I'm not quite sure that'll be of any help to me. I can't seem to remove the vertical sides around the radio (the carbon ones), which I think would be comparable to what you did in your Forester.

I would need something like the holes found in the sides of the original radio, to be able to unmount the display.

I am sorry, but i don't you have to remove anything... you can leave your carbon trims there...
You just have to create a "housing" that should hold your screen. When you don't want it anymore, you simply remove the scren ansamble and re-install your radio and storage compartment.

I'm sorry if I'm slow, but I'm not that familiar with the different mountingsystems for car stereos.

If I create a housing, I'd need some way to be able to remove it again, once it has been "plugged in", like the standard radio has with the four holes. The storage cabinet beneath it in the pictures can be removed by prying it out with a flat screwdriver, but I'm not sure this system would be good, for a bezel with a touchscreen in it.

Sure not.
But When you will remove the radio also, you will find the fixing you need for your screen housing. I wish i had your type of bezel in my car...would have been not more than one day to make a fit for a display there...

Cool - I've just looked at an old car radio I've got, which also uses the four holes to pry it out - looks like I should be able to use those, if the width of the screen will allow me to have them in the bezel. How wide is the panel of a 7" screen?
