another PSONE question...

Is there a way to extend the controller from the screen? I want to mount the screen in a location the controller will not fit. There is a ribbon cable connecting the two, is there a way to extend it?

Yes, because the relatively low refresh rate you can extend it approx. 70-80cm or more.
The main question is: technically how? There is a connector and a ribbon cable, both of them are very small. Perhaps you can get a ribbon cable with a connector on the end. Be sure about the exact pin order!!!! Very easy to get a mirrored one instead of the wanted one!

How would one go about doing something like this? Any pointers? I have never tired to extend a ribbon cable.

i did a ps one mod for an htpc a while back where i was gonna extend the screen. seemed liked to much work so i just modded the case a little.
lumenlab sells ribbon extensions. if you don't have much soldering experience that is the only way to go. these screens use to be very popular with DIY projector makers. what you are looking for is called an ffc extension cable.
hope that helps

Stiv: the 20 pin we need is out of stock....

Solocon: If you have no experience, do not do that, because those tiny connectors and sensitive plastic foil. Ask an expert friend of you.

stiv,

Thanks for the info. I am going to be looking at Ebay for a few longer ones. Is there a max length I should go?

Also, how do they hook to each other? I am guessing taping 2 sides together? Or something like that?

Again, thanks for all your help regarding this.
