Jeep Cherokee Screen location

Hi everyone,
I am almost getting to the point where I am going to start installing my system. I have a 98 Jeep Cherokee and am having alot of difficulty deciding where to put the 5.6" screen I have. Any suggestions? I have done a search and not really found much. Thanks in advance

It seems like in the past few weeks there was a post about a little pop of deal for the Cherokees that when on the top of the dash.

Maybe this link will work

http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/show...light=Cherokee

If not search for Cherokee on this forum.

I put my 5.6 so the bracket pops out of the center vent (or where it was) right below the heater controls. Alot of sheet-metal work to re-route the ductwork. but it was well worth it IMHO... I love the look of brushed stainless and polished aluminum.

BTW, I also was able to fit a char. LCD in the center colsole up front where the junk bin was.

Hope it gives you some ideas.

Hmmm thanks for the links and info. I gotta see how much work is involved in moving the ducts. That may be the way I go. Do you have any pictures? I was thinking of hiding the DVD in the junk bin.

i have a jeep grand cherokee and was thinking the same thing

hrmm i observed it the other day and i was thinking if i could take the stereo out and move that somewhere. It is the infinity gold stereo, and it has the controls on my steering wheel. so location of the speaker wont matter.

now if i were to moved those 2 vents out,, a nice screen woudl fit right in there.

but damn, i dont know if i wanna move those vents..i wish i had a junk car to tear apart.

i gotta get some money and a good screen and a good spare puter before i try this task

I have an earlier model Cherokee (91) and the vents just below the radio and a/c controls made a great spot for a 40x4 lcd. Not that it helps you with the new dash...
But I can say this, removing the main dash vents seriously cuts down on the airflow. You should ask yourself how much you value airconditioning before removing them...
You might try looking at getting a roof-mounted console display. Cherokees have an optional roof console from the factory, so you probably stand a good chance of being able to add one yourself.

That is what my latest though is. Getting some kind of console for the roof that I can hang the screen from. I looked at the jeep website and they have a option for it I was unable to see the actual console. has anyone seen one?

Since you already have the display, it'll be a little more difficult to get a mount, but call around and you might come up with something. I figure just about any console would fit in the Jeep.
Here are some starting points I got from a simple search of MP3Car.com and Yahoo.

http://www.audioinmotion.com/
http://www.partsexpress.com/index.cfm Parts #205-418 and #205-420 (good site - keep searching)
