I want a perfect touch screen
...and I want it to have:
1. EDID
2. transreflectivity
3. no smudges
4. a higher resolution than 800 X 480
5. a variety of sizes
6. a 16 X 9 screen to at least match one standard aspect ratio for
movie content
7. decent drivers
Is there a company that will sell me what I want?

 it's nice to want
I've searched & never found the perfect touchscreen for myself, so I built it, not saying what your looking for is not out there, but if not, you may HAVE to build it. good luck searching for what you want

Preferrably without ink markers...
But no smudges? If you use your finger, you get smudges. Simple as that.

Ummm..yeah. Aren't you that guy with the keyboard steering wheel and the power strip under the center console, and the 800 X 1280 monitor?

Want in one hand, ***** in the other. See which has more results.
BUT, If you can find that screen, and you wash your hands after, lemme know where, Id love to get one, but I think youll have to build it, and they will come.

My idea of a perfect car touch screen would be:
-7" wide@1280*800
-Bare LCD mounted in a metal frame with threaded mounting points for easier integration
-Electronics screwed onto a metal backing plate (none of this double stick foam crap that they use now) then covered with another metal cover with a heatsink on the chips that get hot. I can burn myself on the main chip on my Xenarc.
-A switch panel that connects to the LCD via a Molex Mini-Fit Jr. sytle connector to make it easy to extend the switches somewhere else or connect other controls (it would be perfect to have the power wires, switch panel and video signal in one connector. Would make for a very OEM install)
-A momentary switch input for the display to flip to a video input for a backup camera. When the car is in reverse, the image switches to the camera. When the car is out of reverse, the image flips back to the VGA
-A toggle switch to set turn on when DC received or to allow the driver to turn it on and off manually
-Transreflective
-Dimmer switch to cut the brightness down at night, could also be integrated into the vehicle's dimmer system.
Seems like every company (lilliput, xenarc, etc...) wants to make screens for car use, but don't want to provide any practical car features.
