Hi Guys been lurkin on the mp3car scene for years and this thread is what finally convinced me to dive in head first for my own biuld. I originally tried to order a 8 inch screen last week from gooddeals 18 but after reading this thread I called them to see if they had any in stock. Instead they upgraded me to a 10 inch screen for 20 bux more. Got my screen yesterday took 4 days to get here and I am very pleased with it. Sorry about your luck Uraijit give em a call and see if you could straighten it up, they seemed on the up and up.

each of these reassurances from people with one post is not good.. they could be from gooddeals18, just sign up and leave a good review. i placed an order myself yesterday, sep 5, and so far i've seen them charge me, and now the money is back in my bank account.. i'm skeptical.

I just got mine, I'm not sure it was the unit pictured on the site but it works great out of the box with my ibook. I just ordered my mini for the car today and as soon as it gets here I'll have the mockup built on my shop bench while i'm building the mounts in the car for a real test.
I got a confirmation immediately after ordering, and the unit showed up 4 days later. No problems.

For what its worth, I bought one from gooddeals18 on ebay back in April and received it without problems. I don't remember exactly how long it took, but I don't remember it being excessive. Obviously things don't always work out and businesses can go from good to bad or vice-versa, but I have no complaints.

I'm not affiliated either...I've got a fiero(resto-mod in progress for years), and a trailblazer that I'll be outfitting with 'puters. Well, the fiero's gone through about 4 revisions, but anyway...

Well the fact that others got their screens is all well and good, but it doesn't change the fact that it's been 22 days, and I have yet to receive ANY of a $360 order, which I have paid for. They may have done alright by some of you, but they sure as hell haven't by me. If you have a problem, don't bother e-mailing; they don't respond. Here's my 4th and final e-mail I just sent (As you can tell, I'm done being polite). We'll see if I get a response.
RE: Order# 2007-08-24821
This is the fourth, and final, e-mail I have sent you people, with absolutely ZERO response.
I placed an order on the 17th of August. After 10 days and 2 e-mails, I contacted your sales department by phone. They informed me that there was a problem with the shipping address. I verified the shipping information, and was informed that the 8" screens were on backorder, but your salesperson offered to upgrade to 10.4" screens free of charge. I accepted, and was told that the order would arrive within 3-4 business days. That was 12 days ago. Still no shipping confirmation, and no package.
However, you seem to have had no problem billing my credit card for these items.
I am not in the business of providing interest-free loans. I have canceled my order, using your website, since you seem to be unable to be bothered to work Fridays.
I don't know how many times I need to e-mail you people to warrant a response, so let me be clear -- If you do not respond to this message, I will assume that you are no longer interested in receiving my business, and as such will require repayment in-full within 72 hours of this message being sent.
If I have not been contacted by one of your staff, or received a refund in full within 72 hours, I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau, and the Attorney General's office regarding this matter.
You have my money, I don't have my products. I paid, you have failed to deliver. Since you refuse to answer my e-mails, I have no choice but to assume you are attempting to scam me out of my money. If you are actually a legitimate business, please have one of your staff remove his head from his *** long enough to contact me about getting this resolved.
Enjoy your weekend.

Funny that my first post should begin with a statement that I am not affiliated with gooddeals18.com, but honestly I am not. I have been lurking for weeks gathering data on LCDs, transflective upgrades, and touchscreens. Great info so far!
I ordered the SHK804 8" model the first week in August for $163.99 plus shipping ($181.25 total) and received prompt e-mail notifications. Unit shipped to my house in under a week. If works well inside but haven't viewed it in the car. The touchscreen works well under WinXP but had problems in Gentoo live install CD (need proper driver config here).
For those of you who have yet to tear down the SHK804 unit, be careful with the touchscreen cable. It is located on the left side of the unit (front view) and very short so it is easy to torque the board connector up. There are four corner screws plus side edge-snap grooves holding the front and rear halves together.
The touchscreen is attached to the front bezel via retaining clips AND double-sided tape. Fortunately, only two of the strip sides were exposed (top and bottom since clips hold the left and right sides). I worked from the top middle with light force and used a retractable blade to work the tape free.
The inverter and controller boards have A0550-INV0 and A0530-G0/S0 markings. The main controller board has a TORiSAN SLA4028F4L part. The panel has the following sticker "B/L 080SV03-3 1355 021106 ST3". Based upon some brief Googling, I think this is a SANYO unit? I saw references to Samsung in earlier posts so maybe that is for the 10.4" unit only, or just the LCD?
I plan on contacting FPD Design to see if it is worth a transflective upgrade. Maybe not? I am also following the 3M thread to determine if the film would be applicable to this unit. I thought about opening the panel to inspect existing films, but I currently don't have the time or skill to venture down that rabbit hole. My gut tells me it is better to leave it to the pros.

Have you contacted your credit card company to start a dispute? They usually conditionally credit your card for the money and contact the vendor to settle the issue. Most cards are pretty good about it. 22 days and no response is terrible.

It's actually a bank debit card which was run as a MasterCard. If I don't get the refund, I will contact my bank as well as the Better Business Bureau, and the Attorney General. In reality, I just want my screens. If I get my screens, I'll be happy -- Annoyed that it took so long, but happy. I'll have my screens, and I can put it behind me.
For anybody considering purchasing from them though, I just did a check on the Better Business Bureau website ( www.bbb.org) and they don't have such a hot record. Looks like they don't bother responding to BBB complaints either. They've had 3 complaints lodged against them within 3 months for, you guessed it, refund issues... Go figure.
I'm hoping the Attorney General's office will hold a little more weight with them than the BBB.

I received mine in 3 days with no problems (Brooklyn to NH isn't that far)!
The documentation that comes with the monitor is useless but I do have it working in my van.

Following this thread to see how it plays out. Just curious Uraijit if they debited your account or if they just authorized your card without capturing? They can put a hold on the funds (and some banks don't do a good job distinguishing the two if you bank online) while the funds might have never left your account. Setting aside the funds is pretty common for an etailer. Capturing funds for an order they haven't shipped is asking for trouble (and not only does your state and their state's AG not approve, the FTC has specific rules (look up FTC Mail Order Rule in Google to see the full text).
Either way, that's some pretty poor customer service.

Nope the money came out. It's not just a hold, it's a full-on debit. Anyway I managed to get a response with the scathing e-mail I sent. Here's what they said, and the response I sent:
No need for lengthy emails - I will check if you were charged - if you were - I can refund or ship out - your emails are very rude
tina
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tina,
I really just want my screens. My e-mail was rude because I have been trying to get my screens for 24 days now. I've called, and tried to get the situation rectified. I've emailed 4 times with zero reply. The first 2 messages were quite cordial, the 3rd had a tone of frustration, the 4th is the only one I would consider "rude". The "rude message was the ONLY message that got any response.
It is rude to charge someone for a $360 dollar order, and fail to ship their order, and then ignore their requests for their order; or any updates as to the status.
I consider myself a paitent person. I can understand backorder issues, order mixups, billing mistakes, etc. Where I find myself no longer able to be paitent is when these issues are ignored, rather than being taken care of.
When I called and spoke with the salesperson, after waiting 10 days for my order, he informed me that there had been a discrepancy between the shipping address and the billing address, and that you are unable to ship without verifying, and authorizing shipment with the customer. This is understandable. What's NOT understandable, is why for 10 days my order sat ignored until I called. If you were aware of the problem, you had my e-mail address, my mailing address, my phone number, etc. Why was I not contacted in those 10 days? I don't know. Mistakes happen, I can deal with that.
I was polite and cordial with your salesperson regarding the matter, and he was polite and helpful as well. He upgraded my order to 10.4" screens, and promised that I would have the screens within 4-5 business days. That also didn't happen.
Then I have been ignored for the next two weeks and the first 3 e-mails I sent. I'm sure you can understand the frustration.
If you can ship the 10.4" screens promised me, in a reasonble time period (as in, me having them within the next week -- Which would put me at waiting a full month for them) I would prefer to just have the screens. If it's not possible to get the screens within that time-frame, please just give me back my money.
To be clear, my shipping address is:
[Provided name and address]
Thanks for responding,
-[uraijit]
