Ok, what I "said" was it would take "a bit more modding" I didn't say it was a big deal. Some people don't know which end of a soldering iron to hold and those people may take longer to figure out which pins go to the IR and therefore which wires need to be extended and resoldered to the ir receiver. IT is not as simple as just unplugging the buttons.

The question about the dimensions of the screen in the case? I'll go out to my shed tomorrow and pull out the box that has the casing in it and measure it for ya and post them up if no one else beats me to the chase.

Got my 8" unit in today. No branding on display or packaging. Includes normal junky china/english instructions. Drivers for the touch screen seem to work even on my OLD Win2K laptop.

Only issue I have is that the screen does not auto center even at the native 800 x 600 resolution. No biggy, adjust it by the menu, but it does not seem to remember these settings. Shutting it down and turning the monitor back on via remote will kill the settings. Am I missing something?

Dimensions in case anyone needs them:
8-1/8" wide 6-3/8" tall for case.

Screen image area is 6-1/2" wide by 4-7/8".

Picture is very nice, good brightness, sharp. View angles are pretty wide.

Anyone offer any ideas on the screen centering? Hopefully that can be cured.

Fixed the screen centering.. Had the graphics feeding 75 hertz, but it likes 60 hertz. All is good now!

If I have a complaint about this monitor at this point it would be the inputs to the display. My current plan is to mount this external on my dash, not insetting at this time. The inputs are the VGA and USB cables hanging out the bottom, but the power plugs into the right hand side. VGA plug is a little tough to connect also (round plug).

Comes with a decent little monitor mount too.

I only see an os9 folder, no idea if that driver would work, or if you could find some others.

On the 8", yes. There are 2 video inputs. I have a camera, but have not connected it yet to test.

Wow this looks like a good find. I just wish they had a wide screen display for so cheap.

Ha, I just did the silly and ordered the LCD - even though I have a Xenarc 700TSV, a Ebay special 8" Dynamix or something, and no place for the 10.4 in my UTE, I ordered it anyway - one can never have enough LCDs, can we

I will make a plan with it though, let's see once it arrives what we can do...will keep you guys posted.

Thanx for the original poster for posting the linkie, appreciated. Saw this just after you did a while back, and held out until tonight - just gotta have it at the price!

Ah well, Karma then.

Anyway, screen+shipping to 3109, Victoria, Australia came to exactly US 5 - not bad at all.

I got mine wow its awesome for the price. Its to big for my car but it makes my 7" lilliput look like Crap. This screen is so much brighter. I love it, the only bad thing is where the vga, usb ports are located. Because my vga, and usb cords stick down to where you can see them.
