GREAT DEAL: 10.4" Touchscreen - Samsung LCD $215!
Hey guys, I just figured I would point out an awesome deal to you guys. I bought a 10.4" touchscreen here http://gooddeals18.com/product/SHK1040. The same people also sell them on ebay for the same price. I just want to say the screen is amazing. I compared its specs to all the top model screens you guys like and its pretty much on par or better. The part that amazed me is that once i got it out of the case (to mold into my dash), they use Samsung LCD Panels! Pretty surprising, i figured it would be some cheap off brand. The panel is VERY bright, even in direct FL sunlight. I run it at 800x600 and its amazingly clear. The touchscreen function is also great on it, works perfect and has great software to adjust and calibrate it. At $215 it is a steal compared to what others charge for 10.4" screens, even over $600! You get a top quality samsung 10.4" touch screen for 1/3 the price of lesser quality brands!
- Mike
PS- I dont work for them or anything, i am just very happy with the deal i got and figured i would pass it on!
- Mike

nice price
dude.. I would totally go for the 8" one.. thats soo cheap.. but, the info on the site says its a 1024x768 display.. this IS wrong info isnt it? its proberly 800x600..
but what about the 4/3 ratio? does anyone think its worse when you are using a 8" 4/3 monitor insted of a 7" 16/9?

As far as my 10.4" goes, the screen will work at 1024x768, it just isn't perfectly clear. At 800x600 its 100% crystal clear.

okay.. its proberly a native 800x600 panel then.. two things thue:
It looks like it got a build in TV tuner. is that true?
Also this screen might not be the best solution, if you like me, are planning to install the PC itself in the back of the car, since it does not have all-in-one wireing, meaning you have to pull atleast two wires all the way (VGA + USB for the touchscreen)
I might go with a lilliput or other known brand insted then since it will ease up the install and overall look

how is it worse than the 10.4" one? i was thinking about getting one but the 10.4" is a bit too big for my application.
i think there should be more of a price difference between the 8" and 10.4" no?

Since it doesn't mention a ac/ plug for cars, I was wondering how did you wire it for power in a car?
I'm trying to figure out if I want to get a lillipu or similiar that has an AC plug so I can try the molex connector hack and the screen will power on when computer does.

The screen itself is 12v. And YES it does come with both a CAR adapter and a home power adapter!

excellent, so does the 8 inch touchscreen they have also come with AC plug?
thanks for your posting on these great deals. Samsung panels are some of the best lcd's.
It's funny how the name on the outside of lcd monitors is what you pay for and not the inside actual panel.

I am not sure about the 8", i only own the 10.4". Yeah, Samsung LCDs are the best! I live in FL and even in direct sunlight the screen looks just fine and bright, i am very impressed!

Does it have a model number of TM-1040 by any chance (and the 8 inch would be TM-8200) ???
Thanks

I wouldn't be surprised if this is identical to the Lilliput. My 10.4 has a Samsung panel.

Did you find out what the dimensions are of just the LCD panel without the housing. I'm thinking about getting one of these but would like to know what the size is first so I know whether it will fit what I am trying to do.
Are you going to run this in landscape mode or in portrait mode?
I would love to do it in portrait mode if it would support it or if someone would be able to tell me how I could do it.
