In Dash LCD + DVD + Radio

What do they say, long time listener first time caller? Anyways here we go:

I want to build a carputer. I only have 2 DINs worth of room, and I'm pretty concerned about theft because I'm not sure where I'm going to be living, which makes me dislike having a built-in, 2-Din screen. So I want to stick with a 1-din fold-out screen, unless anyone can convince me differently. I've read that the USB radios pretty much suck universally, so I wanted to keep a headunit. Plus I want a slot-loading DVD drive in the dash. Thats more than will fit : ) I've read about a couple of screens (liliput something or other, K500) with built in radios, but the liliput has gotten bad reviews and the k500 is nowhere to be found...

I'm wondering, there was a hack about adding a DVD player to a Xenarc in-dash display... any chance of doing this with any other (fully-motorized and maybe a bit cheaper) display? Anyone know if there's sufficient clearence under the liliputs or the K90 or K301?

Or any other ideas how to squeeze all this in my dash? I dont' really have the technical expertise to do any hardcore fabrication... I have a friend that can do basic metal and plastic work, which is how I was going to mount the dvd player in the dash, but nothing complicated. Sorry if this post is a bit gibberish, its like 4 in the morning and I've been reading about this stuff all night! anyways any help would be great.

I'm pretty sure that a Mac Mini will fit in 1 din, leaving you the other din for a flip out screen and it comes with a slot load dvd drive built in, otherwise build something in a similar form factor

Thought about that, but it still doesn't give me radio... its not like I listen to it all the time, but it would be nice to have.

Lots of options depending on local places or your own skill.

I'm aiming for something similar to this:

Phatsacks, i do believe that looks like a Corolla Dash to me... Now I have just purchased a 2002 Camry and it has a similar Double DIN hole, so i was wondering what screen that is? and where was the surround from (or is it custom?)

This thread

Not my install, it's just what I'm aiming for. I just need to figure out which LCD (transflective or not), and cooling for the case (I posted an idea in general section about using a wii usb fan)

In that picture there is heavy glare on the LCD, and it makes me want to get a transflective, but those windows aren't tinted.

wow that's pretty nice... unfortunately i really don't have room for that in my dash... i really just have 2 dins, under that is the HVAC controls, which I fear taking out, and I don't really have the expertise or facilities to manufacture my own dashboard bezel. Basically i'm looking for a solution that doesn't involve a lot of modifications to the actual car.
