Corolla owners - Sunlight issues for in dash LCD?

Bought the computer, and some cables. Buying the PSU and possibly the screen from MP3car.com

Before dropping $250 on the 7" lilliput, I'm trying to see if any others have sunlight issues in their corolla. I searched for awhile, and found some people have little or no problems, while others are simply dissappointed. No one had a consistent car though.

I used a Garmin C320 in windshield with no tint in my LE (3" screen or so). Little to no problems, but that is a different area, and different size.

Any corolla owners, with it in dash (where the double din stero is) have problems? I'd hate to wait for the transflective to come back in stock, not to mention the extra money if it's not necessary in a Corolla (with upcoming tint this Thursday).

I saw the side by side comparison for one person's car, and if I had that car, I'd wait and pay the money, but different car, different tint, different angle, etc.

Be careful with the tint. I put in super dark tint all around as well as a visor strip. Now all direct sunlight comes only in through the front window down on the monitor. Before the tint, the glare was not nearly as bad. Doesn't make sense.

Wow that's pretty much the exact opposite of what I had imagined...

I'm planning 35% all around, and no visor strip (although that is a good idea).

So is it bad enough that you wished you had bought a transflective?

I've had my system in for a while now. Transflective wasn't talked about then. I may be upgrading as soon as I do more research.

I think it's all about the positioning in your car.

Corolla owners, seem to have it high, and more glare issues.

WRX have it low, and little to no issues. (example)

I think it's all a matter of state of mind. Those who say glare isn't that bad, are the optimists who have realistic expectations of an LCD's performance in a car environment. Those who do have issues, are probably 99% of the people out there. 89% of that 99% probably don't want to drop the cash on a transflective, so they alter their state of mind to that of the optimistic 1%.

In other words I doubt you will not have bad glare issues, but whether the going price of a transflective is worth not having those issues, is the real question.

Well I'm mostly worried about spending the money, and it not working in a year or so.

Might have to use SquareTrade
