an alternative to Lilliput

I'm a newbie so you've probably all seen this before but i was wondering if any one can tell me if this monitor is any good.
I'm the same as any one else hear looking for a decent solution to the problems of getting a decent VGA display. i know they are out there just not available without a bulk buy or complicated display controllers

this will be my second display the first one broke before i could even install it in my dash. when it did work i had a lot of problems seeing it in the day the thing was more of a mirror than a monitor!.

this one looks as if its pretty sturdy without to much casing in the way of a good dash install but I'm betting it will have the same problems or worse. it says in the specks that its brightness is 400 nits is that with the touchscreen or without? and how would that compare to the Lilliput at 350cd/m2

iv also considered the Lilliput transflective but that thing is not cheap!. any suggestions on good ultra bright screen as a alternative would be very handy
thanks in advance

I think it's safe to assume the brightness is measured without the TS in place. Or better said, the integrators quote the LCD manufacturer's measurement without taking the TS into consideration.

thanks for the response Tim

now then just been thinking if its the TS that's causing most of the problems is there a better TS i could put on

would the results be worth it if not combined with a transflective LCD panel

sorry I've got more Q,s than A,s everything else is getting there its just the screen that's causing problems. after spending so much time and money on this project, just don't wont to make the mistake of buying another poor quality display

it wasn't the Lilliput but i think most of the parts inside are smiler (well the TS was definitely the same) so i was referring to the Lilli before just as a known comparison to what i had. i suppose a good question would be is the Lilli that bad or is it better if its the same then i don't want to spend $700 on it

I'm pretty sure most of the TS's are from the same vendor (since they use the same driver).

400 nits is pretty bright. The guy who reviewed the Dynamix LCD actually said it was too bright (at night at least), it had 500 nits.

Hopefully someone else will chime in, I'm out of worthwhile advise. I'm not the type to spout out assumptions and make them sound like fact

It might be worth noting that a lot of the common vendors (Xenarc, Lilliput, Dynamix) seem to have updated/upgraded the LCD panels found in their monitors this year (well, the 7" models at least).

OK Tim thanks anyway

I've decided on a new screen hope I've made the right choice
I've seen a couple of threads on hear talking about the build quality of the cartft screens so I've gone for one of them (similar to Xenarc?)

Ive given up on transflective for now in the hops that when its in my dash low down it wont be as bad? but how knows.
may be when transflectives get more popular they will cum down in price ill get one then

thanks to everyone on this forum for all the info. i don't do anything with the project without looking hear first
