LCD goes blank after windows loads

I searched for this but didn’t find an answer. I found the solution so I am posting it for others to find in a search.

PRB:
My LCD shows normal as windows boot/resumes. As soon as it fully boots into RR the screen goes blank. Turning on and off the LCD doesn’t help but clicking the hidden back button seems to make the screen appear. From there on everything looks/works normal.

Solution:
Replace the cmos battery on the motherboard. I have an Epia m10K and the battery was of the common variety 2032 used is many cameras and such.
This seems to have solved my problem.

It could also be that the current resolution setting in windows is not supported.

last night mine did this EXACT same thing. Don't know what caused it. Found this thread. I did not replace the battery, I did a cmos reset and that fixed it. Thanks for the info I thought something really bad happened. Using EN15000.

"It could also be that the current resolution setting in windows is not supported." Come on, 800x600 here. It has to be something else. yesterday morning it was fine, went to head home last night and thats when it happened. But resetting the cmos works!

I am glad it helped you. I have had it happen once since I replaced the battery. That worries me but not enough to change anything yet. It was happening fairly frequently before I replaced the battery (like maybe twice a day) and has since only happened once in two weeks.

Replacing the battery may have solved your problem, but all that really does is reset your bios settings.

I have found that it is more common when you are using some skins in road runner that have been changed from their default resolution (i.e. a 800x600 skin stretched to fit 1024x768).
