Programming your 629

So I searched and searched and searched.... and got tired of entering in anti spam images.

No one had a programming guide to the 629.

I just got a new 629. You still use 588998 to get into factory mode, but factory mode is now a menu system without entering in digits.

The first menu you are prompted with is obviously the language selection menu. DO NOT USE THE REMOTE. Using the remote just exits you out of factory mode. You MUST use the controls on the screen itself.

Select your languages and hit the "Menu" button. You now see the following menu:

PC ON --- allow PC input
VIDEO1 ON --- allow composite video 1
VIDEO2 ON --- allow composite video 2
SVIDEO OFF --- allow SVideo input
TV OFF --- allow TV input
POWER MODE 0 --- 1 - AUTO-ON
BRCK CAR OFF --- ????
VGA VOLUME ON --- allow audio for vga
VIDEO VOLUME ON --- allow audio for video
DEF SOURCE SW OFF --- Default source switch... I believe that this will allow you set up the monitor to auto-switch to whatever is set in the next setting. To be used for back up cameras (so you all can finally auto-switch)
DEF SOURCE PC --- the source to auto switch to.

Use the < and > buttons to select the option.
Use the VOL + and VOL - minus buttons to set the value.

Correct me on anything I may have typed wrong. Just thought this would help a lot of people out. I'll update this post as new information is posted. Hope this helps everyone!!!!

dumb question since I don't have my 629 in hands yet... how do we input that number to get into factory mode? we use the remote but then drop it and use the lcd buttons once in factory mode, correct?

thanks for posting this, great timing as I just bought a 629 like 5 minutes ago.

one question though..............

all the menu items you just listed, we have to make a choice for all of those in order for the auto power on to work? or is it all recommendations by you?

BRCK CAR OFF -- probably means turn off unless emergency brake engages. For saftey reasons. There is probably a brake wire that should be connected to the emergency brake if the screen is installed in driver view. I would wire it in and have a bypass switch. Incase you get pulled over you can demonstrait how it doesn't work while driving

Yes you use the remote to enter factory mode. Once in factory mode, use the buttons on the LCD.

You don't have to set all the options. I was just listing each one out for the purpose of a guide. The only option you NEED to set for auto power on is the Power Mode option.

You'll love the 629. I had a 619 that whitescreened on me and the 629 is much better quality. The connector for the inputs is also much sturdier. I don't get any of the blurryness that some people are reporting. Perhaps they fixed that as well.

I played around with my 629 and want to clarify some of the settings listed in the OP.

Def Source SW - If you set it to ON, then it will automatically switch to the source listed below when you first power the unit on
Def Source - If the option above is turned on, this is the source that will automatically be displayed when you first turn on the screen

If you leave the Def Source SW set to off, when you turn on the screen (or auto on if you have it setup that way) the the screen will display whatever source you were on when you turned off the screen last.

The one interesting thing I did notice was there is a small 4 pin connector on the large green board (the one with the power connector) that is labeled SIP1. I looked at the traces coming off of the connector and it looks like only the middle two pins are used. I did not have much time to trace down where they go though. Does anyone know what this connector is for?

Anyone know what option would auto turn on a reverse camera? A.K.A when power is applied. I know other monitors have this setting.

I couldn't find an SIP1. Mine does have a CN13 that is a 4 pin unused plug:

I tried entering the code slowly like the other guides say, but only got it to enter factory mode by doing it as quickly as possible before the lights go out!

Oh, well. I've managed to auto power on now!

Yeah.. what about this feature?
Some say it works some say it doesn't.
I can't get this to work on my 629 (2008 model). Tested with a photo camera connected to video1.

Is there a hack or workaround?
(I don't have a backup camera but was thinking of adding it)

The 588998 code works on all of the VGA based Lilliput 701 and 629 monitors (except the new DVI based 629 it has a different sequence to access the menu). With all due respect to Easyc you can do the whole process to auto power on via the remote control. I do it 20 times a week at work if not more. Simply enter the code hit the menu button 2 more times. THe first line you see on the 3rd screen says power state and has a default value of 0. Use the right arrow key on the remote to toggle that 0 and change it to 2. Just hit the menu button again to exit and you are all done. Be careful poking around and changing the other settings. Once saved some settings can only be erased with an EPROM flash.
It is impossible to make the monitors auto switch for a rear view camera by messing with the hidden settings menu. The control board needs to have resistors added to it for the auto switch feature to actually work.
For those users that are having an issue with getting the code to work you are doing something wrong, most likely not having an image on the screen.

Some people, however, claimed that this feature worked on their 629GL (2008).
Do you perhaps have a link for the resistors mod to make the auto switch work?

I am 100% sure that the auto power on is a feature on both the 2008 and 2009 models. As for the resistor to do the auto switch I have no idea on the rating. They are surface mounted resistors that are about the size of 1/2 a grain of rice. I tried to look at it under a 20x microscope but I still cant make out what the writing is on the chip to identify it. I am not an EE by trade so I wouldnt know how to test them even if I were able to get one desoldered in the first place.
