lcd screen with vga input

hello, im new here and im starting the process to install a computer in my car.. im going to be using my HU (pioneer 740mp with cdrb10 aux in connector) for all controls, and comp for just mp3s. im saddened that my pioneer mp3 player wont play LAME mp3s, so i gotta use a computer.. anyway, I am looking for a good screen, preferably 5.6" with VGA input, rather than the usual composite rca input.. the screens from partsexpress.com seem rather cheap, but they are all rca. Just from personal experience, it seems that TV out on most vid cards seems to make text blurry.. im trying to kep the price of the screen below $200, thanks in advance for your help.

I think the smallest I have seen a vga input lcd is 6.4 And you will not find a vga input lcd (complete: inverter controller, cables, etc) of any size for less than $200, kits usually run in the $800+ range. The best deal I have found is dennisk's deal, the only problem I have with it is that it is 8.4, and that is just too big for me.

Trust me, I have looked and looked. I am getting to be pretty discouraged and have actually been considering rca lcds.

vga just seems so close, but then, so far.

if the screen is that small the difference between vga and rca will not be noticible unless you have a really crappy signal to it.

I use a 5.6 ntsc for everything, including gps, no problems, text is perfectly readable

mp3car system is currently FUBAR and finances do not allow for a correction of that situation

oh now come come...i have a 10.4 Sharp LCD (18 bit 600x480) that came with a backlight inverter...I am looking at $140 grand total spent on getting it up and running. Bought the LCD for $40 and I am purchasing the controller and hirose cable together for a little over $100. Of course this is twice as big as what you are asking for but I just hit up ebay and find all sorts of crap. You gotta bargain hunt

I hit up Google for all my searching. Typing in my model number of my LCD I was able to find all sorts of pdf's. Again ebay is the place to go for cheapo LCD's. I have heard horror stories of people getting ripped off but so far that hasn't been me yet. Everything I have received has been spotless. The LCD I have was from some medical machinery. It looks and works great.

What I suggest is to work with what you know. And if you don't know much about electronics, LCD's, controllers, etc etc..then do a search on this board for LCD [enter size here] and see what people have posted about certain models. That way you have something to go off of. And perhaps even knowledge of what the matching controller is.

Hope that helps,
clown

Please keep in mind that it costs more to go smaller when it comes to electronics.

I was able to pick up an old LCD Projection panel (the type that sits on an overhead projector) for about $50 from my company (we don't use these anymore). It has a Sharp 8.4" LCD Panel and the controller for it. All I need to come up with now is a backlight.
