Sounds great, can't wait!

I've requested sample myself, not sure if they'll show up or not as I haven't recieved a response either way..............

I've been considering a transflective also, but the price has been keeping it just out of my reach (wife'll freak).

Cheers

here are the daylight comparison shots. it was overcast but it was still bright enough to cast some glare over the screens. the upgraded screen is the one without a frame.

here are a few shots of the stock xenarc vs the mp3car transflective.

these are of the upgraded xenarc vs the mp3car transflective.

after i took these pictures, i did the 3m upgrade on the other xenarc. i compared it to the first xenarc i upgraded and as expected they look the same. this upgrade definitely improves the brightness of the screen but the glare from the touch panels is still going to be a problem. i've read that the new models of the lilliputs and xenarcs have better touch panels but i'm not sure if this has been confirmed. if this is the case, maybe we can purchase new touch panels and touch controllers in the near future. i have a few videos of the comparisons but it's taking forever to upload to youtube. i have not road tested the screens yet but when i do, i'll report back again.

Oh my.........

I don't think I've ever seen pics of the transflective that is that dramatic of a difference!

I do believe I'll keep saving my pennies to get one. I don't think I'll be satisfied with anything less now.............

here are the videos as promised. please excuse my poor camera skills. it was a little difficult trying keep the screens at the same angles while taking the video.

keep in mind that my xenarc 700tsv's are around 3 or 4 years old. when sunlight is not an issue, the xenarc actually looks better than the transflective as far as picture quality goes. the picture is sharper but from what i've gathered that's the way the transflective techonology works. you have to sacrifice a little picture quality for sunlight visibility.

Great pics. The upgrade makes the screen a bit brighter, but the real test is in bright, direct sunlight. I notice that in those conditions, my upgraded screen is still completely unreadable because the touchscreen overlay has too much glare. But then again, I am only using one sheet of bef2 vs the two you have.

Does your two sheets of bef2 seem to hurt viewing angle on the horizontal plane noticeably? From your video, it seems that the transreflective looks good from the side, but your upgraded panel gets more blurry and glare-y.

my horizontal viewing angle seems to be the same as before the upgrade. like you mentioned, the upgrade definitely increases the brightness but it is not enough to overcome the glare from our pos touch panels. even after applying the amr anti-glare film in certain conditions, the glare will be so bad that it will make the screen unreadable. i still believe this mod is worth the time and effort since it does increase the brightness of the screen significantly.

there have been some people who have mentioned that the newer lilliputs with led backlights have better touch panels. replacement touch panels for older lilliputs and xenarcs are around $40. if someone can confirm that the new touch panels are in fact better, and they can be bought for around the same price i'd be willing to buy one.

What I'd like to do is increase the brightness of my backlight. I have an older Xenarc, with a transflective coating applied via Duayne, and while the transflective part works good, the overall brightness kind of sucks. Anyway that anyone knows to upgrade the backlighting?

I took apart my lilliput 701 to install these films and when I put it back together the screen no longer works. So I took it back apart to try and figur out why. It turns out that I broke the light tube that lights up the backlighting. So does anyone know where I could get a replacement or does anyone have one they want to sell? Thanks!

kuo, did you achieve those results by just using films? I wonder how much better the results would be if both films nad bonding of the TS to LCD are utilized.

I'm pretty sure that if those combos turn out something readable in sunlight and at a good price, people would be interested no?

Do you have any experience "bonding" screens?

It's not just a simple matter of "gluing" them together.............

I will not be doing the work. I'm having a company do the work and if the results of both using films/bonding are acceptable for a reasonable price, I might buy them in bolk and offer them.

I'm not sure i'd want to bond the touch panel to the lcd on the older xenarcs and lilliputs. these touch panels are the suck.

I know for a fact that the mp3car transflective touch panel is not bonded to the lcd. when I took apart the transflective, I saw how much better it was than the xenaec touch panel. instead of a milky whitish appearance it was a very clear and kind of purple looking. the touch panel is really what's holding us back here. I am going to send xenarc an email to ask about their new 7" model touch screens and whether we would be able to purchase just the touch panel.
