Bonding the panel to the LCD will reduce much of the glare and provide better viewing. I could have sworn that the Transflective screen has the LCD bonded with the TS. This is the reason why the casing would not fit together after the upgrade because everything was now thicker due to the extra material placed between the LCD and TS to bond them together.

I'm trying to see if by doing everything possible, before replacing the TS, provides good enough results to make the screen usable. This should be a cheaper option then buying the tranflective one which puts a huge hole in my pocket

We'll see how the results turn out once I get the upgraded screen and I can compare it to a non upgraded one. I'm using the new 2008 Lilliput screens.

i got a transflective from mp3car right before they switched over to the led backlit models. my touch panel was attached with double sided tape on the edges. i know because i removed the touch panel and rotated it 180 degrees because the way it was attached, i could not access the very top edge of the screen to close windows and what not. i know that mp3car went through a few revisions of the transflective. maybe at one time it was bonded but i doubt that they would go from bonded to non bonded.

I took some more shots today in the bright 11am sun. Screen is about 30% brighter after the upgrade, but still only readable in moderate sun. In direct bright sun, it is still unreadable. I also noticed that the screen is completely unreadable in non direct sun if I have a passenger wearing pink/white. My touchscreen is a k301, 400 nit.

Does anyone know who makes the updated touchscreens used on the transflective screen or place to purchase them?

It appears that AR-MR200 is the way to go for the touchscreen AR coating.

I uploaded some hires pictures and short video of the 3M AR-MR200 applied to my IRTOUCH infrared touchscreen in my NEC 8.4" Transflective Solution - Custom Kit thread.

Just finished the 3M upgrade on my 7 inch 619 Lilliput. When I opened it up, I noticed the existing films looked just like the ones I was going to put in! I had planned to save them in case the upgrade fails but like a dummy I ruined one (the top one closest to the LCD) by using it to trace the size on the new films!

Anyways, this is what I now have in the Lilliput, from top to bottom:

LCD and I assume the polarizer that is already bonded to it
DBEF-E 0 degrees - Horizontal Transmission Axis
BEF-III 90/50 T - Horizontal Transmission Axis
BEF-III 90/50 T - Vertical Transmission Axis
Original diffuser
The glass thingy that fills up the cavity in the backlight
CCFL bulb
ESR film

It is night time here now so no sunlight test yet but it is definitely brighter than before. The brightness now I think comes pretty close to the 2008 Xenarc 700TEV I just bought. I have only one VGA source and no splitter so I cannot have them both on at the same time to compare. But they seem to be pretty close. I am hoping the ESR film will reflect the sunlight back through the LCD and make it more sunlight readable too. We shall see.

i got a chance to take some direct sunlight pics the other day. i can definitely see an improvement. I can still read the text when the sun is shining directly on the screen which wasn't the case before the upgrade. not great but good enough for now.

Its realllyyyyy bad. I have a K-90 and i dont happen to have these issues. Maybe its the way my car is designed and the screen sits in the dash.

I hate to say this after reading this thread, but my stock 2008 EBY701 looks better than these screens when in direct sunlight. I've posted pictures in other threads so I won't clutter by doing so here.

My K-90 also looks better, and so do my two 2008 EBY701. Its funny how a cheap screen can out do mid range priced screens. I just hope the 15" screen i am ordering looks as good.

Thats strange...the k-90 is the same as my k301. They both use the same panels. The screen is actually readable in most sun conditions, but in the extreme case of direct and bright sun, the screen is useless. I have some some anti-glare screen protectors coming in, so maybe that will help out with the glare a bit (probably not alot).

Like I said, i think its the way the car is designed. First off I have tints, lighter tints in the front. I think that is the #1 factor right there. Number 2, is the dash.... It sits abit forward so the roof is like a ledge over the screen. So I guess the trick is to just dont have the sun touch the screen.

Conclusion: Replace your car, lol..... just kidding..... maybe have the screen resessed deeper into the dash. I notice alot of car companies are doing that with thier screens. I guess thier to cheap to put transflective.

Does anyone know of a high contrast film for sale? I would much rather have sharp reflections of my screen than washed out reflections that block everything. I remember when I used to have a rear projection TV and it came with a high contrast filter over the screen that did exactly this. The MP3 car transflective definitely has a shiny touchscreen compared to a stock lilliput 629gl. My iPhone is very shiny but perfectly readable so I don't see reflections as an issue at all.

Has anyone tried just the ARM-200 film by itself to see how to alters the specular?
I just installed my transflective screen that I got from Motorcity but it doesn't look good at all and I'm wondering if this will help. Honestly the screen doesn't look any better than my old xenarc. Besides the low brightness, any light on the screen washes it out completely. On the drive to work with the top down I could maybe see the screen 20% of the time.
