Is the stock 2008 EBY701 using LED backlighting? I have a 2year old eby701 and it uses ccfl. I applied these films and it is definately better to read in the sunlight, but the glare from the touchscreen itself is horrendous...making it nearly un-usable in some situations.

Anti Glare Touch screen in 7inch
After performing the 3m upgrade, and not getting the results I was after I have been searching and researching other options.
The source of the sunlight problem is the touchscreen itself, its just too reflective.
So I'm going to try a different touch panel, I've found a manufacturer who seems to be willing to supply me with a SAW panel in 7inch.
SAW for those not in the know is a Surface Acoustic Wave - it uses sound waves to detect the touch.
The features of SAW
* Antiglare glass option
*Pure-glass touchscreen for superior image clarity, resolution, and light transmission
*Durable, scratch-resistant, and vandal-proof glass surfaces
*Stable, "drift-free" operation for touch response that's always accurate
*Finger, gloved hand, and soft stylus activation
Anyway the best bit about these is the AntiGlare properties.
The units cost a fair bit more than the original resistive panels. $40 vs $120 each.
I'll be putting in an order soon, once i get confirmation on the exact specs of the unit, it has to fit into the same frame and work via USB in windows etc etc.
I will post my results when done.

I'm not a fan of touchscreens in general and don't use one, so I haven't read all the posts in here, but has anyone tried a wacom digitizer as used on tablet PC rather than touchscreen overlays? They mount behind the LCD panel and thus don't obscure the view at all.
Downside is they don't recognize input from a bare finger. You have to use the stylus. Maybe you could implant something into your fingertip:

We have access how? We won't sell them according to who? Did you contact the store and request these at some point?
I should note that ANY company would flounder if they didn't weigh the benefits and the down sides to carrying various products. As a business, it doesn't make sense to just carry anything and everything at the whim of a desire.
We, as a company, can not survive carrying products that don't sell or that cost a small fortune just to stock. Unfortunately, in the past, there have been issues in getting products on the store. Now that I'm handling this aspect of the store, I've made it a point to change this, but not in a foolhardy manner. This process doesn't happen over night, it takes time.
I have set a goal for myself to add one new product a month to the store. Also, because I came to this company as a hobbyist, I have a very fond spot for those of us who push the envelope and who search for new products. I am pushing to provide more hobbyist grade products on the store than there have been in the past.
I cannot answer for the way things were done in the past, why they were done that way, or what the thought processes were. All I can do is look forward and try and make things better.
As part of that, I have contacted 3M for these films. I have a standard set that requires me to receive a sample, test that sample to evaluate it's quality and usefulness, and determine if it's worth stocking. Yes, while many people in this thread have received the films for free, it appears that 3M has caught on to some extent and is tightening the reigns. Hopefully we can make something happen from this.

I contacted the mp3car store and they would not sell me a touchscreen replacement. I assume it's because the transflective upgrades are done somewhere else. I already have a transflective and only wanted a clearer touch panel but no luck.

So, Jan, why dig up a post almost six months old just to get defensive about it?

Um, guys:
Let's stay on topic and not turn this into a "let's bash the store thread"............
Please?

The 2008 EBY701 is CCFL

I'd like to see a screen with better CR and a non-reflective touchscreen myself.
I guess the best would be a high CR, more nits, transflective technology, optical bonding and improved touchscreen overlay. So, anyone got a couple grand to spend on a screen?
But you absolutely need a way to dim it at night. Or it'll be just as useless at night as it is now in day...............

1. To let people know that it's changing
2. To let people know that we are considering these and other new products for the store

I should note that the free films aren't enough to do an 8" screen with two films to 90 degrees to each other.
Same would go with the 10" screen.

Red- Why don't you provide the source of your AR touchscreens so users would have the option to upgrade their touchscreen alone? I think that this is where the previous comment was going towards.
I have upgraded a 629 with the passive enhancements (films) and the touchscreen bonded to the LCD. I will shot a comparison video and post it up. It is definitely brighter and it can be seen int he seen really well, but the grare is still present, not as much, but present. Removing the glare is only achieved by replacing the AG touchscreen with a AR touchscreen which MP3 has the source for such.

RedGTIVR6.....so the antiglare film doesn't come in the 11X11 size or you didn't order it in a larger size? I just assumed that since this stuff is meant for off the shelf monitors and laptops that they would have larger sheets of the stuff....ANYONE ELSE KNOW?
