Question LCD Text Display for Din opening --Please Help...

I have a double-din opening. A single din head unit is in the top space and the lower space just has a pocket in it.

What's the largest lcd text display that I can use in a single din opening?

Thanks.

you might be able to find a 4x40 if you find one small enough.. the 4x20 i have the pcb is slightly too large to fit in a slot. a 2x40 would probably fit, if not any of that.. you are gonna have to settle with a 2x24 or a 2x20

the lcd places usually have a datasheet that will give you size specifications.
I know at least crystalfontz.com does

a 4x40 will fit if you have a little leeway around the edges. My install:

Thanks for the info and pictures. A display would really complete the setup. I may be able to get a 40x2 in my dash with little modification. A 40x4 would be nice, but I'll go with whatever fits the easiest.

Any suggestions as to brands? Alot of the eio.com ones seem to be sold out. Is CrystalFontz the best choice?

do you want serial or parrallel? I would strongly suggest the 4x40. It is great for spectrum analyzers...

smashr2k,

I'm running MPXPLAY 1.47. So I believe it's parallel. I'll have to recheck. I'm not sure if MPXPLAY updated to serial or not.

And don't get me wrong, after seeing that 40x4 in your dash, it gave me a glimmer of hope. Do you remember any dimensions of the lcd module?

Also, what frontend are you using for the display?
Thanks.
