Transflectives are "Out of Stock", what to do?
are people just lining up in wait for the transflectives?? I emailed the mp3car store and the one line reply was "you send us some money and we'll send you a screen when we get one"... not really a satisfactory reply, in my opinion, but
1 - what alternatives are there??
2 - what are the expected delivery dates on this??
my Xenarc is fine for the majority of the time, but I want the clarity and readability... I have seen one in person and they are impressive, but I've never really been all that excited/pleased about the mp3car store...

Email Duayne.
I'm not sure, but I think mp3car once got their screens from him. He is exceptionally priced too. I haven't bought one yet since I'm waiting out the 3m results fully, but I know he sells the Lilliput 701 for $499 and the new Xenarc 700TSV for $699
Prices are still high, but sources are limited (mp3car or him as far as I've seen, and mp3car is out right now)

hmm... is the Xenarc "better", $200 better be pretty different... I thought the qualities of the Xenarc would be over shadowed by this process... I will email him and try to remember to update this thread with my results...

is there anything truly better about the new Xenarcs?? I have a 700TSV from two years ago (when they first offered a black bezel)... it has been fine... I am just curious where the $200 is...
I emailed Duayne and will order as soon as he gets back to me.

I actually asked that same question recently in comparison of the Lilliput 701 and Xenarc 700TSV:
Quote:
Personally, knowing what I know, I would take the Xenarc. But not for the contrast or even the higher brightness. I would take it for the fact that it has a new LCD panel in it. And by new, I don't mean by design. I mean new, as in new not used. All Lilliput's have refurbished LCD panels in them. They ship from the factory this way. Granted they do have new CCFL back lights in them, but they are still used (heavily I might add) LCD panels originally installed in Pachino's (Chinese style of slot machine).
I wish there was a way to confirm or dispute this outside of logic. I can't imagine a company doing this due to estimated life on LCD screens not being accurate when repackaging them (not to mention many other issues with this concept).
Edit: Made the quote bigger by setting the font size.

well, I am happy with my Xenarc... the sunlight readability is important, but how long this thing will last me is more important...

Motorcity had never been one of our suppliers.

mgithens - Yeah, $500 or $700 and no warranty due to opening the case is a bit out there, and makes me want to only drop a couple hundred in case it breaks in a year from normal usage.
Zip-Lock - Thanks, not sure where I read/heard that, but that is what made me trust motorcity in the first place (which I am now going to research other buyer's experiences).

I have 35% + factory and it meters at 28% tint
Ambient light still projects onto my double din head unit which glare will be an issue (how large is unknown till I get a screen and what type of screen, etc)

I thought tinting the windshield was illegal except for a tiny strip at the top?

lilli's always used recycled screens as far as I know, way back when I had a few that used to have a jurasic park image burned into the screen, you only saw it on startup or disconecting the vga..., don't know about recent ones though...

2k1Toaster - That's just the windshield, I was referring to the actual windows when replying (my fault for not specifying).
turbocad6 - Thanks for that info, guess I'm going with Xenarc then.
