Hi thermoptic,
thanks for posting as you worked through this project. I was wondering if you have had a chance to get some high noon shots.
Cheers

Welcome. See post #84 for direct sunlight. I have the screen on the driveway. See the pictures for the time of day (afternoon). This is as close as I'll get to high noon. It was windy but no tumbleweeds on hand to roll through the shots. See post #85 for a video taken on the edge of the driveway, I'm in the garage and the screen is on the edge outside in sunlight.

That is all that I can post. I've had to put this project on the back burner due to work and family priorities. I may find time in a few weeks to finish the automatic brightness control. Hopefully, Mr. Bean will knock this out before I do. I hope to have this screen in the car by the summer.

I am awaiting a few components still, but no rush, will get there

You won't believe what the supplier want to charge for the LED backlight and controller....will be approximately USD $200 for both.....

Oh well, will stick with the ccfl then.

Will keep you posted.

Did you managed to get an answer re this from Digital View?

I ordered the same controller-board and hardware (just for testing purposes and to get a LVDS cable), so would like to play with the software config if you have the tool - hopefully they responded to you?

Best regards,
MrBean

Hey Bean, sorry I actually never found the time to contact Digital View. I hope all is well with your project. I currently have every available neuron committed to professional work.

It seems like I dealt with this car PC project five years ago. I may find some time to revisit this work in June. Until then...

Hey, no worries - I myself have the in-laws visiting from South-Africa, so things are at a standstill.

I have contacted DV, and they w2ill send me the serial utility - I will forward it the moment they do.

I am awaiting delivery of the LCD controller, hopefully next day or so.

Will keep you posted, good luck that side

I have just received my controller, 3 days from Texas USA to Melbourne Australia not bad - well done Mouser.com

@ Thermoptic: Maybe you will find this utility handy - it allows text-overlay onto our LCD's - most of the functionality is hardcoded into the Genesis controller chip.

Will test it out.

Br,
MrBean
