Lilliput fuzzy only on CarPC

There is a constant fuzziness in my screen. Sometimes it's in the bios boot, sometimes not. It seems to only be fuzzy when plugged into my CarPC, but not all the time. Here's what happens:
  • Boot from the CarPC and get fuzziness
  • unplug screen from carpc to regular computer, looks fine.
  • go back to CarPC screen looks fine now, but the touchscreen doesn't work (I only moved the VGA connector)
  • reboot CarPC, it's fuzzy again.

I thought it might have something to do with the USB for the touchscreen, so I unplugged it and rebooted. Still fuzzy.

I tried powering it from A/C adapter (currently powered from M2ATX), still fuzzy

I messed with the barrel connector to avail, but this seems logical b/c I can get rid of the fuzziness w/o touching the barrel connector.

Anyone have any ideas?

TIA

I had such problem with mu lilli, I soldered all the wires for vga right on the board (while I was installing the screen in the dash) and fuziness diappeared. Can't say what was actual problem, or what would be the solution

silly question, Did you make sure you had the video set to the proper resolution?

I'm not sure this will help my problem b/c I haven't needed to mess with the connector to get rid of the fuzziness before.

I have it set to 800x600. I haven't tried to force it to anything else. But the other computer is set to the same thing and doesn't have the problem. Can the resolution cause fuzziness like this?

My next thing to try is to power the PC from my ATX power supply he I bench test with instead of the car. Has anyone seen problems with electronic noise getting through to the screen?

Make sure you're shielding the VGA cable. The most likely problem is that your LCD doesn't have the analog VGA timing quite correct - is there a "calibrate/adjust/auto" button or sommat on it?

almost positive it's that larger lcd ribbon cable... it may have come loose or twisted sideways a little. It's very very very touchy.

It's the cable that came with it. I've done all the auto adjusting from the monitor menu.

Then why would it work hooked up to another PC? I'm not the moving the monitor at all during these tests. It's mounted in the dash of my car. I'm simply unplugging from the CarPC and into the other PC.

Thanks for all the input. I'll keep trudging through and let you guys know. I haven't had a chance to try powering the PC from something other than the car. Hopefully I will tonight.

Red face I'm an idiot

I'm a moron. I goofed with it last night and I swear I tried to auto adjusted the monitor multiple times before, but after a detailed, slow, step-by-step debugging procedure, it seems that was my problem.

I guess during the post and Windows loading progress bar screen the signal coming from the PC is different b/c I get the fuzziness during that, but once windows is loaded everything looks good. I obvioulsy wasn't very thorough with my testing before. Thanks again for everyone's suggestions.
