Anybody with a dww-6500/cid650 have this issue when installing?

Ok!
I got the above head unit for my new install and found that the fascia adapter for my car wouldn't sit flush with the main case of the dww-6500.
The problem lies with the screws which stick out of the sides of the unit not allowing the adapter to pass and reach the front of the unit.
This results in the screen sticking out almost an inch.
If anybody knows how to overcome this I would appreciate the advice.

The screws come from the inside so the head isnt on the outside of the shell.
There is about 2mm of thread sticking out the sides.
I cant remove them as far as I know.
