raw pretty much sounds like a monitor without a plastic case or bezel. it just consists of the screen itself. Sometimes they don't even come with logic boards and you have to buy them separate. These are normally reserved for speciallised things like interactive kiosks and atm machines etc...

In my experience and research, buying an lcd in its entirety is cheaper than going with a raw setup. May as well search ebay and online stores such as this one to get a good deal..

Just have a look at what other people have done and make a decision.. theres heaps of info here..

Thanx for the reply and the explanation konman its much appreciated. I have all my components except for the monitor i am not sure how to go I thought about going with a 2din vga or 1din vga with radio and amp all together the reason i wnated to go this route is because if i get a regular monitor I have to disassemble and solder certain wires which I dont have the knowledge to do as of yet.

disassembling the LCD monitors like Xenarc and Lilliput are EASY. There are a LOT of guides here on how to do it, in particular check the 3M upgrades thread. There are screenshots and instructions on how to disassemble both brands of monitors.

Depending on how you're mounting will determine if you need to do any soldering or if you just need to get a longer cable (sold at various places including the mp3car.com store).

I disassembled my lilliput for insertion into my Maxima. To be honest...molding the bezel is WAY harder than taking apart the LCD and fitting it.
