Thinnest LCD screen for rear window

I am in the final stages of completion of my Lamborghini replica.

The rear window on this model is already quite small (which really, really limits visibility on the factory car), and in my car it's even smaller due to the size of my engine.

I would like to fiberglass over the rear window, and set into the recess an LCD screen which will display a rear facing camera.

What is the thinnest LCD display that I can find for this application?
16:9 ration would look the best (since the window is rectangular in shape).

You're going to put an LCD screen where the window would usually be?

I fail to see how this would be usefu to anyone except the driver right behind you....

It won't be facing out it will be facing inside the cabin. Basicly he can mount something like a 17" widescreen lcd monitor in place of the rear window. This will have a feed from a rear facing camera. This will give him better view (depending on rear camera placement) than if he really had a rear window. I only have one suggestion for the OP. You need to mount that lcd with earthquake like mounting hardware. I would hate to have it hit you in the back of the head. Way to think outside the Box

would that pass road worthy requirements?

if you have a fisheye lens it will give you even greater viewing coverage.

you would also want sumthing to reduce the brightness of hte screen when driving at night but, increase it during day time.

You will still look intot he rear view mirror to see the LCD right? why no have a normal window inthe back (as big as you canmake it) then put a small (3" or so) rear view mirror LCD?

Thanks, I should have made that more clear.

Yes, the screen will display into the interior of the car. When I look into the (windshield mount) rear-view mirror, I will see the monitor.

Some of you may note that they make small (built in) LCD screens for rear view mirrors, and I did look at some of these. Hovever, those screens are quite tiny, and in moving traffic it's hard to look close enough for the image to be helpful.

I can't take credit for the idea.
In the movie "Miami Vice", the badguy Jesus Montoya has just such a set up in his Hummer.

And point well taken about making the mounting crashproof!!!

Okay...suggestions?

Well Samsung is the closest in the development of a OLED display. This 'flexible' display is very thin. This would be The easiest to put in the car without much added weight, but it is still in the prototype phase. Samsung resently introduced a 40 inch (101.6 cm) diagonal Full-HD LCD TV panel only 10 mm thick. The full article is here. I don't know how big a screen you are wanting to go, but I'm rather sure that they can make one to fit what you can imagine. I would suggest though that you look into a OLED display for your rear window idea.

They qualify for everything that you would need in that kind of application. Considering the flexible article is a few years old. It could be further along than the article suggests.
