when it powers up...

the unit displays a menu so we choose on screen the working mode? Or is it possible to preset it in PC mode so when PC powers up the screen shows instantly the Windows environment? I'm thinking to use the Blaupunct head unit for FM RADIO and also drive the PC audio output through aux in. So i'll have always the Xenarc starting at PC mode (if possible) and can use the PC while listening to radio. When need pc audio output i'll switch to head unit's AUX LINE. On the other hand this complicates the DVD playback cause there will be no audio connection to Xenarc.
I consider buing it just for the easy DVD and USB connectivity.

the parking brake wire is so that you don't mess with it while your driving. a safety feature.

Are these units like past units I've installed where you ground the parking brake wire and it works at all times?

Hooking up the P-break to +12V will do that, yes. That may or may not be what I've done depending on the local laws in the area that I live.

Parking-brake goes to 12v? I always though it was connected to ground. I need to find out which before I hook something up wrong and it blows up lol.

I contacted xenarc, the parking brake wire is only to prevent you from using the dvd player while driving. But he said to bypass it just ground the wire.

Also I was able to pick this up off ebay from dynamix for only $650 (submitted an offer), a lot more reasonable than the $800, plus not a bad deal considering what you are getting. Just a fyi.

Hey this is probably a dumb question, but does anyone know how to get the harness for the speakers out of the back of the unit? It's clipped in, but I can't see how to get it out.

I don't believe this is the case. The unit I recieved for testing did not do this...quite annoying.

Sub-bass is almost always a mono-signal. Only in high end solutions do you have stere sub-bass.

No xos. Only a 7 band EQ.

If you find it in the settings, post it up, I could not find it. In most other car audio pieces, its a setting.

I noticed this as well. It's not speed dependent. If you turn it FAST it still just changes the volume a notch or two at a time...same as if you turn it slowly. If you wanted/needed to quickly ramp up or ramp down volume, you're SOL.

The DVD drive for DVD functions doesn't work unless you are on DVD mode. This is outlined in the manual...it's quite strange if you ask me. It should have the ability to auto-switch. Every other Car Audio piece out there does.

It's like a joystick for navigating the various screens. The touch screen can be used as well. It's pretty delicate. The unit I recieved had this knob on upside down....it fell off in my hands and will need to be superglued back in place to ensure it doesn't happen again.

Again, I haven't found this either.

I figured out how to set the presets on the radio, weird combination of pushes of frequency and preset buttons.

Would you mind posting up how to set a preset? It's not documented in the manual IIRC...though it should be.

I have had to disconnect the battery once since getting it. playing with menu- it locked up and wouldn't shut off- no matter what. I have not been able to recreate this.

This happened to us as well. We got in the truck, the turned the unit on, and it was at 3/4 volume, NOT on the same radio station that we were listening to previously (annoying) and the screen was black. I couldn't adjust the volume, I couldn't put the screen back in, I couldn't turn the unit off, I couldn't do anything. We had to pull over and pull the fuse (btw - you shouldn't have to physically disconnect the battery, just pull the fuse.

The volume delay for the unit is annoying in my opinion.

I agree, 100%.

Quote:
The fan on the unit cycles on and off, so it doesn't stay on all the time but it isn't silent by any means. It sounds like your defrosters little brother on #3 fan setting.... It's not annoying, and isn't really noticeable when music is playing though.

It's abnormally loud, ESPECIALLY considering it's not a PC that it's having to cool....no other car audio head unit I've ever had has been even close to this loud. This is something they will need to take care of if they hope to compete on that level.

Yeup - confirmed.

The manual labels them. If they were smart though, they would at least state this in the manual. It would help cut down on their support time since I'm sure they will have a LOT of people emailing/calling asking about them.

They are just pig-tails. They are not designed to be the only cable between your unit and the PC. How they did this though is a lot smarter than some of the others out there. The unit is already very deep. If they hadn't have made these on pig-tails, the unit wouldn't have been able to be installed in any vehicle since no vehicle would have the depth avaliable.

Ant. + amp remote are all the same. Just connect this one wire for your amp turn on.

wire remote wire is not documented...unless it's a secondary remote turn on...

Hey Red... I was just wondering I know this is a BIT off topic but... would you recommend this unit? Granted it does not look as sleek and stealth as a molded xenarc screen. I currently have a 700tsv molded into my dash but I have how i have no radio...And i dont wanna but an addon radio for a pc... i kinda wanna go back to the stock look...

Anyone have any idea what voltage the audio pre-outs are? I am interested in this unit but for the money it better well be at least equal to the quality of a entry level DVD player.

Voltage outs was one of the things I was going to test. However, I believe my unit to be defective based on the number of issues I'm having so I pulled it to return it before I had a chance to test it.
