Red, (Doing this from memory as I am at work) To set the radio station preset- once I tuned it in I had to press and hold the Freq button and then press the desired preset, wait for flash on freq- release and repress the preset. It was a real pita because if you don't get it, it resets to 88.1.
I have been using the unit for about a month now and I'd say I'm happy with it. the problems noted before are still a bit annoying. The volume and lack of auto on sucks.
The screen works great though- even in low single digit temperatures it has performed excellent. I have On-Star with the phone option in my truck and when the phone rings (or is activated). the monitor shuts down and closes. When the call is completed I have to power the unit back on. I wish there was a way to just mute the radio or even do nothing automatically so I could just pause the music. I find myself avoiding using my carphone and instead using my regular cell phone so I don't have to go thru the delays.

The screen is nice, I haven't noticed much of a glare at all. It was very hard to squeeze in my dash though, there are so many wires behind it. I'm pleased, but I haven't really made up my mind if I'm going to keep it or not. The volume delay and no auto turn on are VERY annoying, the volume more than anything. Plus I'm not sure how powerful the amp is, but I've noticed a big difference in my speakers since switching to this. I've messed with the eq, but it doesn't seem to help.

No - I'm not familiar with a single fold out screen that allows for the removal of the face plate.

The front does pop off, but it's not meant to come off all the time like that.
I'm going to end up sending my unit back in exchange for a stand alone monitor. The firmware for it is just too buggy. Hopefully they'll offer some kind of upgrade in the future, but for now I can't take it.

I've talked to Xenar support, and even they admit that firmware is still in it's early stages. These are the first units to be released, so obviously they are going to be a little buggy. But it's just too many little things that add up to a big pain in my opinion. The deal sealer was the built-in amp. I wanted to use it temporarily until I could buy and install an amp, but it starts to clip just over half the volume (25 out of volume of 50). I've never had a built-in amp clip like this one has, not mention it's not producing no where near as much low end as the factory radio did. I just uninstalled it, and with the factory radio in there, the sound is like night and day. I don't know if my unit is particularly bad, but I don't know if I'd want to throw out so much money for something this poorly put together.

If xenarc came out with a +/- $500 unit without the built in radio/amp but rather a UIRT (for volume control, a little girder action with the computer connected straight to amps) and maybe a USB radio (in with the dvd drive on the usb hub) then i would be sold. maybe an analog volume control that just "internally" splices into the RCAs from the computer to the amps. Or maybe if they paired up with alpine or pioneer and designed something that would sound better then i would pay $700.
or maybe... ah, forget it, i should just finish learning how to fiberglass my dash and stick with my original xenarc 7tsv

i was setting up my new xenarc, and this thread answered the question what to do with the brake wire and that was to ground it and i saw a few other people posting about problems with autostart and auto off...
Im not having that problem i just thought id throw that out there not sure if i have newer firmware or if your installation was wrong this thing needs a constant power source and a swtiched power source (i.e inginiton) it only works properly with both.... when i shut off my car the screen goes back in and as soon as i start my car the screen comes out and the unit is on automatically....
just though id throw that out there im enjoying this screen very much

I didn't really care for it, but that's just me. All flip-out units are just too slow for me. It takes too long for the thing to come out. It would take about 30 seconds for the screen to come out, software to load, and actually start playing the radio. I'm sorry, but thats just too long for me. I like to hear music immediately when I start the car. The screen is really good though, touch screen responds really well. And it doesn't glare that bad, at least in my car it didn't.
