Hey guys!
Well after about 3 months of good use, my Xenarc 700IDT (new 500nit brightness one) decides not to display an image anymore! first i thought it could have been a loose VGA connection somewhere down the line between the carPC in the back and the extension to the monitor, but i tested each point with a CRT monitor and the computer is putting out the correct display! it had me stumped for a while!
See the thing is the Xenarc can see the display resolutions being sent to it, i.e. when i boot the PC it shows "PC" then shows "600x480" at POST and when i know the PC proceeds into boot into windows it shows "600x480 @ 61hz" so it had be kind of stumped as to why it was getting the correct resolutions yet not displaying the image..
So, after all my testing i narrowed it down to the unit itself, i looked at the VGA connector, fine, then i thought the cable behind it might of come loose, but seeing as it was secured well i decided to check everything else.
I looked behind the monitor to check the ribbon cable, and viola! i think i spotted the issue. what happened is the swivel (tilt side to side) action has a piece of metal that supports the monitor and due to poor design (on Xenarc's part) the ribbon cable sits right next to it, and when swiveled right it hits the cable!!
Okay heres a few pics of what i mean! (sorry about the blurriness)
Okay so what do you guys think? What are my options for repairing this? Seeing as i live in Australia, do you think my only option is to RMA it back to Xenarc?
Adam
