non touchscreen displays available

I'm working on a car pc build that will use two 7 inch monitors (dash & modded center console). I don't really care to use touch screens from reading about all these stupid issues people are having with them. I rather use 2 non touch screens for my install instead. Where can i get 7 inch non touch screens?

Edit: Also if the options for a non touch screen are slim pick'ns, can a touchscreen panel be removed without demolishing the screens and will the screen still function normally without it?

Thanks for any input

I've been on ebay as well and it seems like the touch screen is pretty much a forced issue. Looks like I don't have much of a choice but to gut the touch panels out of these things no matter where I buy them from.

a touchscreen is almost a necessity for a carPC. you'll never be able to match the "ease of use" that a touchscreen provides, not to mention how much safer it is when driving (as opposed to using a touchpad or trackball while driving )

and what are "all these stupid issues" you speak of?

From what i have been reading all over the forums, there are a lot of driver issues and flat out failures of the touch functions of these touch pads. Maybe it's from user error, maybe not?
In my next build, I will be running a video card that has dual vga outputs. I may be wrong, but I don't think those touch screens seem really suitable for the dual monitor spans. Trivial issues are the constant fingerprints and scratching of the screen which is what I am facing now with my current setup which doesn't include the right side of my current touchscreen taking a crap after only being in the car since the summer. After that I definitely dare to try to do things differently. If it don't work or I don't like it, I'll just take it out too and do something else. Recycle the good hardware and can the rest. That's how I roll.

I'm thinking user failures figure in pretty highly here. I've been running a "cheap" eby701 for 3 years now with no issues. It's been through three installs and the last one involevd a complete removal and reinstallation in the case.

Fingerprint oils are a pain, but not as much as the reflectivity of the TS overlay. It's almost mirror like in some cases.
Scratching? meh, get a touch screen protector (those clear cling film ones work great).

But, go with what you feel is best for your app.

Me? I can't see living without the option of touching the item I want. It means less time eyes off the road, which is what you really want anyways. I can deal with cleaning the screen now and then and careful installation avoids alot of the reflections for me........
