replacement touchscreen for EBY701

I've cracked the touchscreen on my EBY701. it's a small crack in the bottom left corner, its small and hides behind the bezel so it doesn't effect viewing. If I apply light pressure to that corner, then the touchscreen works fine, but once you let pressure off that corner it won't work. I've tried numerous times to jerry-rig tape to maintain pressure on it and it works fine on a desk but as soon as I put it back in the car it doesn't work again.

I have given up trying to fix the cracked screen, I just want to buy a new one but it seems almost impossible to find a replacement touchscreen for the Lilliput EBY701 (I've checked the MP3car store, ebay, dww, and I've googled my @$$ off with no luck). there are plenty of replacement screens for the 619/629 models, but they are not the same. so my questions are:

1. I know the 619/629 screen is not the same as the 701, but is it close enough in size that it would still work? if not is there any other screen that is?

2. with the 619/629 touchscreen, the ribbon cable comes off the top (as opposed to the side on the 701)... does it matter which side the ribbon is on? is the touchscreen permanently oriented in one direction or can the software calibration make it work correctly in any direction?

3. does the touchscreen have to be a lilliput replacement or will any 4-wire resistive touchscreen work?

I don't want to buy a whole new monitor if I can avoid it.

It's the same dimensions/controller as the Lilli 619, in my personal experience.

thanks for the reply, when you say "in your personal experience" do you mean you've tried a 619/629 touch screen on a 701 (or vise versa) or are you just guessing?
