Needing TFT VGA Parts........
Hi all, sorry if this has already been asked, but I need to purchase a new 7" VGA TFT screen. I have a DWW-700H but the display is very dark. I have tried everything to increase the brightness with no luck. I have sent an e-mail to DWW but still have not gotten a response. Bought it off of ebay and since then the seller has closed his account. He had good feedback so I felt confident buying this unit. Google searching on showed place to buy whole units, I just want to replace the screen. The touchscreen overlay works fine. Unless someone knows how to fix the screen, I am pretty handy at soldering and such.............

That's funny - I had the exact opposite problem with my DWW-700H. I couldn't get the brightness to go down at night. Ended up having to use software to play with the gamma settings. It worked out for me, though I'm not sure if you could do the same to brighten things up - only dim them down.
As an aside, if you do end up going with a new monitor, let me know. My screen was recently stolen out of my car (just the monitor - thief ripped it right off the in-dash housing, ripped the ribbon cable, and probably has a dead screen right now), so I'm in the market for another manual-flip-out monitor. DWW seems out of stock of them (and I'm not happy at all with the service from Armen - he never got back to me over a broken TS with my calling and emailing once a week for about a year).
Anyway, enough rant. Good luck with the screen, and shoot me a message if you're ever looking to get rid of yours. (The sooner the better).

Maybe you have a bad backlight? Do you think the screen is noticeably dimmer than it should be? Or maybe the screen just sucks. Rather than replace the entire LCD assembly (which is what I am guessing you want to do), why not just do a backlight upgrade? Once you have the LCD assembly taken apart, you can just unplug the old backlight tube and slide in a new, brighter one.

cMags... It is defiantly the screen. That really sucks about someone steeling it. I bought one off of eBay for a really good price. It's actually a setup to either mount it into a headrest, or you can mount it onto your dash with a slide clip. The screen assemble is exactly the same, so I'm hoping to swap it out with my dww-700h. I know what you mean about dww, he never returned my e-mail either. *** just for your info, on eBay, user name lucksky88 sells parts for this unit. He quoted me a price of $115 including shipping from China. Might be a bit different depending on where you want it shipped to. Now this price was for the LCD part itself with the back light, not the housing. But I'm sure he could probably hook you up. Just thought you might like that bit of info ***
nobb.... it is the back light that is giving me trouble. I did take it apart but it's not simply a ccft bulb that can be replaced. Was hoping it was but it's actual a complete assembly that needs to be changed, unless I did take it apart enough. I got it broke down as much as I think I can. If you know any other tricks to it, I will give it a try. Just as a note, there were 2 wires that plugged in on opposite ends of the screen. I looked it up online and apparently there are 2 different typed of back lighting, this type and the ccft bulbs, which are only about $10 each and would have been easier to fix.

I have taken a few color LCD screens apart, and not once have I seen a screen with a backlight that could not be replaced (not easy though). So maybe you didnt take apart the screen enough. Did you take it apart far enough to reveal the actually CCFL tubes? Does the LCD assembly itself have some sort of metal cage around it? This cage can usually be pryed off. On my LCD screen, there were some very small metal tabs on this metal cage which I pryed with a small flat head screw driver. Once these tabs were pryed, I could take off the metal cage around the LCD assembly and have access to the backlight inside. When you say two different wires, do you mean 2 sets of wires (4 conductors)? If so, then those two set of wires probably goes to two separate CCFL tubes. Maybe you can power the screen with the LCD assembly taken apart slightly and see if one of the tubes are blown? Or maybe one tube is dimmer than the other? Pics would probably help though.

I did have it down to were I had to take the metal cage off of the lcd screen. There we several layers of film, for reflection I would assume. The back light itself was contained inside a white plastic housing. There was on;y 2 wires total going to the back light array, one going to opposite ends of the housing. I will take it back apart and take pictures when I can, just had our first baby so my hands are pretty full. Thanks for your advise, will keep you posted.
