TV out

Have purchased a dvd/am/fm/MP3gps combo unit. It has provision for RCA input and has a 7 inch TFT screen.

No VGA connector.

Would a carputer with TV out be able to connect to my unit via the RCA inputs and function as good as if it had VGA connectors?

no, in comparison to vga, rca output (from said card) on that type of screen looks really bad. There's plenty of info on that sort of thing in here if you search also this FAQ is a good start:
